Job Summary: The Director of Respiratory Services plans, directs, organizes, leads, and coordinates the day-to-day operation of the Respiratory Therapy Department.

Develops and implements policies and procedures which are consistent with JCAHO, OSHA, CLIA requirements, provides in-service for staff to include safety, infection control, and quality assurance, works with the Administration to develop long range planning, budgeting, staffing, as well as the management of employees and payroll for the Respiratory Therapy Department.

Minimum Requirements:
Bachelors Degree in Health Care Administration, Science, Business or related field required.

Minimum of five years health care administrative experience in an acute care environment required. Work requires strong management, financial, and interpersonal skills.

. Preferred Qualifications:
Masters Degree in Health Care Administration, Business or related field preferred;# 5-7 years progressive experience, including familiarity with the technical and managerial aspects of a Respiratory Therapy Department.

Under medical supervision, the individual must be able to adapt to the particular area of assignment and be able to perform accordingly. Standards of performance must be maintained. ESSENTIAL RESULTS & COMPETENCIES: 1. DELIVERS QUALITY CARE By integrating the elements of examination, evaluation, diagnosis, prognosis and intervention to optimize outcomes. By optimizing patient independence. By administering inhalants and aerosolized medications, performing bronchial hygiene, operating mechanical ventilators, delivering therapeutic gas administration, and by performing hyperinflation modalities per established respiratory protocols. Perform cardiopulmonary and hemological diagnostic studies. 2. PROMOTES SAFE AND CLEAN WORKING ENVIRONMENT By complying with policies and procedures, rules and regulations governing environment of care and patient safety. 3. DETERMINES AND/OR FACILITATES DISCHARGE/DISCONTINUATION OF SERVICES By analyzing achievement of anticipated goals and expected outcomes, planning discharge/discontinuation and providing appropriate home instruction, follow-up or referral. 4. RECORDS PATIENT SERVICES By documenting, dating and authenticating respiratory therapy examination, evaluation, diagnosis, prognosis, intervention and outcomes in accordance with facility and regulatory guidelines. By billing for specific interventions provided. 5. DEVELOPS AND ENHANCES PROFESSIONAL KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS By participating in continuing education to maintain licensure, reviewing professional publications and providing learning experiences for professional development. 6. CONTRIBUTES TO TEAM EFFORT By embracing change to achieve common goals, demonstrating willingness to provide service at other sites as necessary, investigating opportunities for new lines of services, contributing to the development of peers and promoting a positive work environment and by accomplishing related results as needed. 7. COMPLIES WITH FEDERAL, STATE AND LOCAL LEGAL AND PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS By understanding and adhering to current standards of practice for respiratory therapy, guide for professional conduct including the code of ethics and practice guidelines established by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. By providing appropriate supervision to other healthcare professionals and coworkers. 8. ENSURES OPERATION OF EQUIPMENT By completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs. 9. PROTECTS PATIENT INFORMATION AND CONFIDENTIALITY By securing all information in confidential space, following facility confidentiality policy. 10. CONTRIBUTES TO PI TEAM EFFORTS By assisting the Clinical Resource Specialist with data collection, monitoring, analyzing and reporting. Minimum Education Requirements: Graduate of an accredited college or university of respiratory therapy with either an associate's or bachelor's degree in respiratory therapy. Minimum Experience Requirements: Performs clinical procedures for patients from infant to geriatric. Must have CRT/RRT certification. Minimum of 2 years of experience required. Clinical experience in all areas of respiratory care is preferred. License/Certifications: Current licensure or eligibility for licensure to practice respiratory therapy in the state of Pennsylvania. CPR certification for healthcare workers.
