This critical leadership role offers a unique and exciting opportunity to lead Baxter's Renal Care electromechanical design organization as we pioneer new solutions to improve the lives of patients with chronic kidney disease.
Success in this role requires an optimal blend of business, technical and organizational leadership. The role requires the proven ability to understand business dynamics today and into the future, translate product concepts into technical roadmaps, decomposition of those roadmaps into the specific steps required to innovate and commercialize new products and to define, hire, mentor and motivate a global technical team focused on electromechanical medical device design to achieve the business objectives.
Effectively communicate across multi-national/multi-site organization.
Ability to translate a vision into specific actionable steps in terms of technical innovations & advancements, teamwork, acquisition and application of the right technical talent and organizational leadership to deliver products that meet the business and patient needs.
Work effectively with cross functional teams including quality, program management, manufacturing, service, regulatory, medical and clinical to deliver on schedule, on budget, high quality, manufacturable and serviceable products that meet business need.
Collaborate in establishing processes for effective resource management from planning through execution in close collaboration with program management.

Responsible for development of expertise and technical competencies as well as effective deployment throughout a multi-site organization.
Responsible for establishing, monitoring and actively managing the functional budgets including all capital, direct and indirect expenses.
Responsible for driving cross functional integration and collaboration in support of technical, innovation, project and functional activities.
Track record of technical leadership applied across a multi-site organization.
Proven capability in the development of complex medical devices requiring successful integration of electrical, mechanical and software constituents.
Highly proficient in current and emerging engineering methods, principles and system integration techniques related to electrical, mechanical and software engineering.
Self-motivated, good interpersonal skills and broad range of proven communication skills.
Proven track record of understanding and application of a broad range of problem solving tools (Six Sigma, lean, workout etc) to the analysis, solution identification and implementation of complex technical designs and issues.
Ability to establish a technical vision, identify the tactical steps to achieve, foster innovation and lead a diverse global design team to realize the objective of the vision.
Deep domain knowledge in electromechanical design for medical devices including: risk analysis, quality & reliability, design for cost, design for manufacturing, design for service, medical device compliance standards, current and emerging design standards /tools, automated test
Understanding of and adherence to FDA, ISO and IEC design control procedures, regulations and standards.
Strong business acumen and ability to communicate how technical design activities and priorities fit into the larger context for the business. Ability to lead make/buy analysis and subsequent vendor management efforts.
Education and/or Experience
BS in relevant engineering discipline with an advanced degree preferred.
15+ years of experience.
Prior experience in medical device product development required.
Prior experience in kidney dialysis a plus.
