Position Summary:

We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Director-Reimbursement.

In this role, the successful candidate is responsible for assisting in the overall planning, organization, direction, and control of the Reimbursement department. Interfaces with various hospital personnel regarding financial issues and analysis. The position will require the individual to assist in the development and direction of personnel and the processing of financial information.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Develops a partnership between finance and the other operational departments to improve the reporting of information. Identifies and coordinates resources to meet customer needs and deadlines.

    Communicates clearly and concisely with all customers. Maintains open communication with internal and external customers, and healthcare agencies.

  • Prepares data for and assists with audits of both internal and external auditors. Provides support for documentation requested by auditors in a timely manner. Directs and supervises the annual Medicare audit.

  • Responsible for the preparation of Medicare cost report, NYSICR and other regulatory reports. Directs, coordinates and reviews all submissions to governmental agencies - cost reports, budgeted capital, DSH Cap, and other regulatory reports.

  • Reviews statistics to ensure accurate cost allocations. Reviews completion of routine surveys.

  • Responsible for the preparation and completion of the wage index and occupational mix reports.

  • Maintains Medicare and Medicaid enrollments.

  • Maintains third party rate accounts. Reviews third party payment rates.

    Reviews PIP account analysis and other third party retro receivable accounts analysis. Performs and reviews various analyses and calculations for the monthly revenue accrual.

  • Coordinates the responsibility for explaining variances on financial and statistical information. Reviews the various statistical reports distributed.

  • Responsible for understanding relevant financial and operational issues. Understands decision support technology and cost accounting methodologies.

    Possesses an extensive knowledge of current regulatory and reimbursement issues. Ensures that compliance and regulatory requirements are adhered to and up to date. Possesses a good understanding of reimbursement rate methodologies.

  • Facilitates a positive work atmosphere within finance and respective departments. Interacts with administration, peers, general staff, and other Medical Center personnel in a courteous and professional manner.

    Assists department directors and managers with any financial questions and guide them in use of various financial reports they receive. Demonstrates a spirit of cooperation and support for cross departmental objectives. Displays a positive outlook and pleasant demeanor.

  • Demonstrates trustworthiness, integrity and initiative. Respects and maintains confidentiality of all information within the Hospital.

  • Identifies financial opportunities and threats proactively and communicate findings in a timely and effective manner. Demonstrates creative thinking for developing solutions.

  • Redesigns internal processes and uses technology to provide quality information on a timely basis. Assesses time required for completion of required work (individual and team). Delegates projects to the manager, and analysts and monitors completeness and timeliness. Manages multiple tasks and projects.

  • Directs, manages and oversees the development of the Reimbursement Department. Reviews work performed by direct reports.

    Conducts staff performance appraisals. Provides leadership and direction by supporting and motivating staff. Directs the hiring and training of managers, financial analysts and staff.

    Effectively assigns tasks to personnel with appropriate skill sets. Develops, implements and monitors adherence to departmental policies, procedures and budgets. Prioritizes work projects to ensure all filing deadlines are satisfied.

  • Collects, analyzes and presents complex data from multiple sources to assist in the decision making process. Ensures quality and integrity of data collection and presentation.

    Efficiently organizes tasks and assigns appropriate resources. Performs ad hoc analysis to support the decision making processes of departments. Directs the preparation of tables, graphs, spreadsheets, narratives and other materials necessary to effectively communicate the financial health of the Hospital. Coordinates activities with MIS in obtaining special reports.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance and/or a Masters degree in Business Administration or Healthcare Administration, or CPA. Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in hospital healthcare or accounting. Supervisory experience is necessary.

Preferred Qualifications:

Currently working in a hospital reimbursement department with extensive knowledge of governmental reimbursement

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $146,384.39-$243,974.35 Annually.

Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
