As the Director of Regulatory Risk and Controls, within the broader Financial Risk and Controls Team, they will oversee the execution of the adherence, control, and substantive validation program related to regulatory reporting. Regulatory reporting validation testing includes leading regulatory reporting quality assurance, capital planning (CCAR), and liquidity control validation. The position will report directly to the Head of Financial Risk and Controls while overseeing key leaders and teams.
In this role, they will oversee the planning, performance, and independent validation to safeguard external reporting integrity, including CCAR and liquidity control environment. This entails overseeing the team that performs adherence, control, and substantive testing procedures through periodic reviews of regulatory filings and controls. This position is primarily responsible to provide guidance for the purpose of ensuring feedback that enhances the accuracy of reports submitted to regulators. The position will also partner with key stakeholders in regulatory reporting to identify areas of regulatory reporting improvements, including identifying process enhancements and issues that require remediation.
Work closely with the Head of Financial Risk and Controls to oversee and coordinate the regulatory reporting validation program in order to meet and exceed deadlines, track and document overages, identify and implement process improvements, and prepare status reporting.
Responsible for ensuring an "audit-style" approach is followed and the quality of the work meets or exceeds the program standards, primarily through providing oversight of team members across multiple locations.
Responsible for monitoring that the programs are designed in such a way to ensure adherence to applicable regulatory requirements with respect to CCAR, liquidity reporting, and/or other regulatory reporting as required by regulatory agencies.
At the request of the Head of Financial Risk and Controls oversee projects to achieve stated objectives.
Work closely with the Head of Financial Risk and Controls to oversee and coordinate with both internal and regulatory agencies. Work to add efficiencies and enhanced alignment where possible.
Prepare and provide training to stakeholders as necessary to ensure effective programs.
Approximately 10 to 15 years performing audit, quality assurance and/or regulatory reporting compliance work, which conforms to professional standards and/or regulatory requirements.
Preferred - Experience in capital planning and regulatory reporting within financial services. Progressive experience in a combination of public accounting (Big 4 or large regional accounting firm), internal audit, and/or quality assurance execution is highly desirable.
A Bachelors (or Masters) Degree in Accounting (preferred), Finance, or related field.
High degree of project management expertise.
Effective leadership skills with experience in managing a team to drive results for regulatory reporting compliance.
Strong / broad understanding of banking regulations including and other regulatory reporting requirements
Strong / broad understanding of internal control concepts, quality assurance concepts and various auditing techniques.
Strong project management and organizational skills, with the capability to work on multiple projects with minimal direction in a dynamic and fluid environment with rotating priorities.
Pro-active, high energy, and strong interpersonal skills with a team-focused attitude, demonstrating the ability to collaborate and compromise while building constructive and effective relationships.
Demonstrated critical thinking and analytical abilities, including problem solving and time management skills.
Strong verbal and written communication skills, including report development.
