Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development of global regulatory strategies for CGM product development and sustaining projects. Working through cross-functional teams, explore regulatory pathways, assess and communicate key activities and associated risks.

  • Ensure preparation of U.S. FDA 510(k), IDE and PMA and global regulatory submissions for new and current products as required. Ensure that all submissions are accurate, completed in a timely manner and meet Dexcom standards.

  • Assess the skills and competencies of department regulatory professionals. Recruit, develop and retain regulatory professionals who demonstrate exceptional performance and leadership potential. Develop strong bench strength for department positions.

  • Provide leadership and support for external audits by FDA, notified bodies and other regulatory authorities.

  • Review product labeling and marketing materials to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

  • Provide guidance, interpretation, and opinions on changing worldwide regulations, while maintaining active involvement in medical device and regulatory affairs organizations to ensure up-to-date knowledge of current and future industry trends.

  • Develop working relationships with key personnel/representatives of global regulatory authorities.

  • Develop and communicate a compelling regulatory strategy and mission. Provide subject matter leadership, training and vision to the regulatory team.

  • Manage the annual operations budget for the regulatory affairs department.

Required Qualifications:

  • More than 10 years' experience in a medical device (preferred) or pharmaceutical company

  • A minimum of 8-10 years of Regulatory Affairs supervisory experience

  • Strong knowledge of FDA, EU, Health Canada and other applicable international regulatory requirements including clinical trial requirements, quality system requirements, submission requirements, labeling and promotion requirements

  • Working knowledge of software development life cycle, agile processes, including mobile technologies required

  • Knowledge of diagnostic medical devices

  • Candidate must have good written and analytic skills

  • Must work well independently or within a cross-functional team environment

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Life Science or Engineering required

  • Advanced degree in Life Science or Engineering preferred


Travel Required:

  • Up to 25%

I: Job Summary The Senior Manager will lead regulatory activities across the Antibody Therapeutics Business Unit. They will serve as the regulatory representative on Project Teams where they will provide regulatory strategy, direction, support and advice to the teams. The Senior Manager will lead the development of a sound regulatory strategy and follow-through to implementation to assigned project teams. The Senior Manager will take the lead on all regulatory activities, including the management of authoring, review, and coordination of a quality submission. They will prepare the team for meetings, teleconferences, and other communications (including pre-read packages and/or other necessary documentation) with FDA and other global regulatory agencies. The Senior Manager will educate teams regarding regulatory risks and implications for strategy, product/process development, and/or post approval change activities, and use technical knowledge and effectively apply regulations and guidelines to the assigned projects. II: Responsibilities * Represent Regulatory Affairs on assigned product/ project teams to communicate regulatory strategy and plans to gain alignment with team members, line management, and multiple stakeholders * Develop innovative regulatory strategies that incorporates risk identification and mitigation * Lead the preparation, planning and execution of aligned regulatory strategy through timely regulatory submissions * Oversee development of submission content, documents and timelines * Provide critical review of all documentation supporting regulatory applications, provide gap analysis of submissions based on regulatory requirements; anticipate Health Authority responses and communicate areas of risk to project teams and line management * Lead meetings both in-person and teleconferences with regulatory agencies for specific projects; may also be required to work with government funding agencies * Negotiate complex issues with regulatory agencies and prepare responses to questions and comments from regulatory agencies * Ensure regulatory product compliance for assigned products (e.g. agency commitments) * As required, provide regulatory assessment for deviations, change controls and manage associated regulatory activities to ensure compliance * Maintain awareness of new and developing legislation, policy and technical regulatory guidance relating to assigned programs. Interpret existing regulations and guidance documents for regulatory department and/or project teams. Conduct and analyze regulatory research to understand competitor activity * Interact with company partners and consultants for various regulatory matters as needed * As required, develop procedures to support the regulatory affairs department * May provide input to business unit strategies from regulatory perspective * May be responsible for a functional area and/or have direct reports The above statements are intended to describe the general nature of work performed by those in this job.
