Heatcraft products are primarily used to preserve food and other perishables in supermarkets, convenience stores, restaurants, warehouses and distribution centers, in addition to other applications such as data centers, pharmaceutical and industrial process cooling.

Job Description

As the Quality Director, you will be responsible for shaping and driving a strategic, proactive quality culture and roadmap for the entire organization. With a "hands on" approach, this role will enable and ensure the business is holistically providing customers with a high level of product & service quality executed with a lean/six sigma continuous improvement mindset that designs and builds quality into all HRP offerings and business processes. Further, in the event of a quality defect, oversee the development of root cause corrective action to prevent re-occurrence and provide customers information and proactive professional support in response to those defects to restore/preserve credibility and confidence. Develops and maintains relationships of trust and open communication inside and outside the organization.

  • Create and analyze departmental dashboards as well as those published as part of the Quality Council. Prioritize corrective actions and process improvement opportunities in order of significance to preserve and enhance the perception of HRP in the marketplace by driving customer retention and/or growth of market share utilizing quality as a tangible source of differentiation and competitive advantage for long-term market leadership.

  • Provide focused analysis and corrective action of customer complaints as identified in the Heatcraft Quality Council and ensure timely responses are provided to issues logged in the SESWeb/C4C system and other means of customers alerting HRP of a quality problem to improve customer satisfaction survey results as well a reduce warranty cost and sales concessions paid to customers.

  • Oversee and coordinate all departments to drive root cause corrective action to prevent reoccurrence and facilitate the communication with customers to resolve quality problems in a credible fashion.

  • Direct and coordinate the priorities of the Supplier Quality Manager along with the Director of Reliability & Supplier Development in PD&R to ensure external supplier products meet the organization's quality standards and that HRP receives satisfactory standards of service to ensure accountability and recovery of costs when supplier caused defects occur.

  • Develop a long-range plan (3 to 5 years) for not only sustainable quality processes but continuous year over year improvement.

  • Be the face of quality for Heatcraft Refrigeration Products to our customers. Dealing directly with the customer and building confidence that customer concerns are being appropriately addressed and where necessary corrected.

  • Work with all departments cross functionally to develop schedules, project plans, and cost estimates for implementing new activities, procedures, or methods to improve the quality and performance of the organization's products and services.

  • When possible, implement process improvements to improve efficiency within the quality team and enable the team to drive more value to the overall business.

  • Research, evaluate, and recommend investments in technology, capital, equipment, systems, or other assets which will improve the quality of the organization's raw materials, in-process products, and finished products as well as other systems enhancements that will improve the quality and efficiency of internal processes and transactions.

  • Review and establish procedures and techniques for control of quality standards, direct inspection services.

  • Review and approve quality related policies and process changes to ensure robust linkage for the entire quote to remittance process within various sub-functions and departments.

  • The primary measurement for the role will be achievement of established quality metrics across the entire organization in whatever form is appropriate for that department including but not limited to PPM, Warranty as a percent of sales, first pass yield, etc.

Qualifications

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

To be successful in this role, you will need to have the following:

  • HVAC/Refrigeration experience is a plus.

  • Bachelors' degree strongly preferred; Masters' degree desired

  • 8+ years of quality experience
