Our pet segment is searching for a Director- Quality/Food Safety and Regulatory Compliance in our Neptune City Office. The Director develops and implements Quality and Food Safety programs and ensures compliance with domestic and international law regulations The Director assures safe/quality products by establishing and enforcing quality standards, testing materials, and products.

  • Commitment to Quality, Food Safety and Regulatory Compliance

  • Ensure that manufacturing facilities have adequate controls programs and organizational structure in place to comply with all regulations, customer and SQF, GFSI and FSMA requirements

  • Ensure that appropriate records are maintained and a well-documented tracking and recall program exists and all employees are trained on all aspects of the program

  • Design and implements adequate tests and procedures for HACCP compliance.

  • Oversee the human safety programs at all facilities and ensure compliance to all OSHA and local regulations.

  • Develop an Emergency Response Program.

  • Develops and oversees all training activities to stay current with regulatory and industry requirements

  • Interface with all regulatory agencies (FDA, USDA, and EPA and DOT) and customers ensuring optimum support

  • Leads third party audits and inspections. Responsible for overseeing or completing audit deviations resulting from any inspections

  • Assure FSVP compliance with GFSI and FSMA

  • Responsible for the management of the Safety, Quality, and Regulatory teams to include hiring, reviews and disciplinary actions as needed

  • Responsible for leadership of the Safety, Quality, and Regulatory teams to include mentoring, teaching, and ensuring the team is trained and current on all quality systems and regulatory issues


  • BS degree in a science; Advanced degree a plus

  • 15 years plus experience in Quality Management, with emphasis in EHS, Food Safety and Regulatory compliance.

  • Certified as PCQI, HACCP, SQF Practitioner

  • Must have proven leadership skills

  • Experience in dealing with FDA, USDA

  • Professional certification in Industrial Hygiene, Safety, or Environmental Science preferred

  • Familiarity with regulations of international export preferably of food

  • Ability to work cross-functionally particularly with R&D manufacturing and procurement

  • Able to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner

The Facility is comprised of: nine mechanical chillers, a 400 ton steam absorber and a 600 ton hot water absorber, 2 IC CO-Generation Engines (12.4 Kv), 6 emergency diesel generators, 3 high pressure steam boilers (117 Psi Saturated Steam), 12.4 kv switchgear / >40 transfer switches. Efficient and reliable operations of these utilities directly impacts the health and safety of patients throughout the hospital. You will have direct onsite responsibility of management and maintenance of modern critical utility services systems for a 600+ bed academic medical center that encompasses 1.3 million square feet. You will also have ongoing consultative support for all other Hackensack Meridian Health hospital sites system wide. Responsibilities A day in the life of a Central Utility Systems Supervisor at Hackensack Meridian Health includes: * Supervises the Utilities Team and the Oversees the Stationary Engineers. * Supervises the operation and maintenance of the utility management /power distribution systems and related electronic controls * Ensures Proper Preventative Maintenance to avoid unscheduled power, plumbing and medical gas interruptions * Supervises the operation and maintenance of critical emergency power distribution systems * Works to ensure Emergency power systems remain operable during power interruptions * Supervises the operation and maintenance of all chilled water systems including chillers, towers and water treatments * Provides critical thinking and consultative utility system operation and preventive maintenance for the power system for other Hackensack Meridian health facilities * As needed, responds to assists with problem resolution and critical system interruption. Provides review of new construction and the interfaces with utility system design contractors. * Adheres to regulatory compliance standards of the JCAHO, NJDOH, CMS, EPA/DEP and local regulatory agencies * Ensures no major citations noted during agency inspections * Coordinates and monitors the proper completions of all preventive maintenance work and meets or exceeds performance improvement targets Qualifications * Must have your high school diploma or GED Equivalent * Must have 6-8 years of experience in progressive work experience in operations and maintenance of central utility systems or similar Mission Critical Plant * Must have 6-8 years of experience working with High pressured boilers, Emergency Generators, Co-generators, and Steam production and recovery * High Pressure Black Seal License is preferred * Proficient in MS-Office (Excel & Outlook) * Ability to read and understand Mechanical Drawings Hackensack University Medical Center Neptune NJ
