Job Summary

The Director will lead all Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP) developments at Miami Dade College and will provide transformational leadership in the development and full implementation of the five-year plan, in alignment with the College mission, vision, and strategic plan. The Director holds a key position in the Office of Academic Affairs, establishes an inclusive College-wide framework, workplan, and enacts all aspects of the QEP to improve student learning and success, as defined by the institutional QEP plan goals, objectives, and the requirements of accrediting bodies. This is a Professional Exempt Contractual (PEC) position for which an annual contract reflecting the base salary within the fiscal year (July 1st to June 30th) will be issued after ratification by Miami Dade College's District Board of Trustees.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Establishes the QEP framework, clearly and persuasively promotes the goals and objectives to faculty, staff, and students to guarantee successful implementation and outcomes of the QEP at MDC

  • Engages faculty, students, resource groups, and College leadership at all levels, in the dissemination, implementation, and continuous assessment of the QEP goals, objectives, and supporting activities

  • Collaborates with the College Strategy and Institutional Effectiveness units to solicit and apply data findings and analytics in the alignment of goals and outcomes defined in the QEP

  • Provides leadership in the design and implementation of procedures, pedagogies, curricula, facilities, and professional development necessary to achieve the QEP goals

  • Collaborates with the appropriate College personnel to maintain and update the QEP website

  • Works in conjunction with the Center for Institutional and Organizational Learning (CIOL) team to provide professional development opportunities for faculty, students and staff relevant to the QEP initiatives

  • Monitors accreditation requirements to ensure College compliance and reporting

  • Develops and leads the activities of the QEP College-wide committee and subcommittees

  • Acts as a liaison and coordinator with external stakeholders to obtain input into the QEP development and implementation

  • Coordinates the roll-out of the QEP across all campuses, coordinates and provides oversight of QEP related trainings, workshops, and presentations at the local and national level

  • Prepares a detailed analysis of QEP developments, progress and performance through a set of benchmarks toward achieving QEP goals, and completes bi-monthly reports

  • Leads the QEP Assessment Plan which provides for an annual formative assessment of student learning outcomes and a summative assessment at the end of five-year plan

  • Acts as a liaison between all relevant constituencies to ensure the successful development and implementation of the QEP

  • Maintains records and data on the project and coordinates the production of the annual and final reports

  • Manages the QEP budget and personnel

  • Attends annual meetings as QEP budget allows

  • Works with appropriate College personnel to develop an awareness and marketing plan that excites and informs the College community of the purpose and value of the QEP

  • Provides updates to the Vice Provost of Academic Affairs and College leadership on the progress and goals achievement of the QEP

  • Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements

  • Master's degree and five (5) years of higher education project management experience or related field; or Bachelor's degree and nine (9) years of experience in an academic area related to project management, digital literacy, educational technology, computer science, or related field

  • All degrees must be from a regionally accredited institution

  • Knowledge and understanding of College organization, goals and objectives, and policies and procedures

  • Understands the QEP purpose and possesses proven competence in College-wide project implementation at all levels

  • Understands QEP standards and requirements set by accrediting agencies and aligned with institutional priorities

  • Expertise in the design and execution of operational plans, project and academic program management

  • Knowledge of educational research and assessment methods, quantitative and qualitative data analysis

  • Capability of developing and utilizing statistical models to assess student learning outcomes relative to the QEP

  • Strong leadership and team building skills and demonstrated ability to motivate and include stakeholders in the completion of short and long-term goals and objectives

  • Ability to plan and manage resource requirements, including staffing, budgets and other resources

  • Strong communication skills and ability to create and sustain community, industry, and global partners in support of the QEP

  • Knowledge of budget and financial management decisions in a large, complex organization

  • Deep knowledge of technological innovations and their impact on higher education

  • Ability to work well in a multi-ethnic and multi-cultural environment with students, faculty and staff

Essential Position

  • This function/position has been designated as essential. This means that when the College is faced with an institutional emergency, employees in such positions may be required to remain at their work location or to report to work to protect, recover, and continue operations at the College.
