What Public Relations contributes to Cardinal Health

Public Relations is responsible for the development and implementation of public and media relations strategies to advance business and reputation goals. Encompasses public relations and awareness building strategies, both national, trade and social media relations, and issues management.

  • Demonstrates solid understanding of media relations and social media principles, communications tools and measurement process.

  • Demonstrates solid understanding of audiences, traditional and emerging communication channels and best practices.

  • Deliberately selects and applies best communication strategies, processes, channels and practices to meet business objectives and desired outcomes.

  • Demonstrates comprehensive knowledge of issues management. Directs issues management programs and manages communication in crisis situations.

  • Develops and leads communication campaigns and strategies.

  • Writes, reviews edits and produces clear, concise communications for key audiences, drawing upon business and communication expertise. Selects writing style based on desired stakeholder reaction and modifies it to be channel appropriate.

  • Influences key constituencies based on insight, persuasive written and verbal communications skills and strong relationships. Able to communicate with all levels internally and externally. Builds constructive relationships across the organization and builds trust and rapport with internal and external partners.

  • Possesses strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Utilizes broad and deep knowledge to develop innovative new communications practices, policies and procedures

  • Contributes to the development of department strategy

  • Works on or may lead highly complex projects of large scope

  • Projects are typically cross-functional and have significant and long-term impact

  • Negotiates complex or risky technical business issues on behalf of the company

  • Independently defines project; establishes budgets; identifies participants and mitigates risk

  • Consults with management to determine project objectives with long-term implications

  • Works with senior leaders and multiple internal teams at all levels of the organizations to accomplish results

  • Acts as a mentor to less experienced colleagues


  • Proactively provides public relations counsel to senior leaders, marketing teams, communications colleagues and other internal colleagues.

  • Collaborates with communications, creative, digital, public relations, government relations and other key internal teams as necessary to achieve objectives.

  • Responsible for the development and implementation of public relations and social media campaigns, strategies and tactics that engage key constituents and support business objectives.

  • Strong media relations and press outreach capabilities

  • Manages company blog, Essential Insights

  • Develops integrated media relations programs

  • Produces effective communications in a variety of formats. Edits and provides constructive feedback to writing and recommendations of others.

  • Develops productive, positive relationships with journalists and other key influencers.

  • Provides crisis communications counsel to leadership to support effective issues management.

  • Supports executive visibility media relations efforts

  • Ability to provide counsel and direction around social and digital communications


  • Bachelor's and Advanced degree in related field, or equivalent work experience, preferred.

  • 12+ years experience in related field

  • Experience in content marketing a plus

  • Healthcare experience preferred

Immunotherapy (using the body’s own immune system to fight cancer) is quickly becoming the new standard of care for treating cancer, and this team is honored to work alongside the scientists who are making amazing strides towards cures in multiple tumor types.</p> <p><br></p><p>We are searching for a mid-level public relations professional who wants to be a leader. We will empower you to run the day-to-day team, report in to the Senior Director and be the confidant of the client.
