About the Role

WeWork is currently seeking a Director, Public Affairs, Central that will oversee the United States' Texas and Midwest regions.

The Public Affairs Director will be based in Dallas, Texas and will report to the Head of U.S., Canada, & Israel Public Affairs, who is based in New York City. This person will manage a Senior Manager of Midwest Public Affairs and oversee WeWork's day-to-day public affairs efforts in Dallas, Austin, Houston, San Antonio, Detroit, Minneapolis and Chicago. Strong candidates will have a sophisticated understanding of media relations, communications, public policy, and will have demonstrable experience managing partnerships and executing thought leadership and campaigns and events.

Objectives:

  • Deepen WeWork's brand and product awareness in markets through local earned media and multi-channel cross-functional campaigns.

  • Strengthen WeWork's brand and create social impact through civic partnerships and events.

  • Establish WeWork as an influential civic stakeholder and protect business interests through government and influencer relations.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the Sr. Manager of Midwest Public Affairs to oversee and execute the day to day media and agency relationships across their respective region.

  • Manage Sr. Manager of Midwest Public Affairs to execute and promote scalable brand awareness, community engagement, and thought leadership partnerships and events across their region.

  • Work with the leaders in the Public Affairs team to execute playbooks for new markets and buildings across the region.

  • Manage an editorial calendar across multiple cities.

  • Work with WeWork's brand, marketing, and social teams to create content and brand collateral for local integrated media campaigns.

Successful candidates will have the following qualifications:

  • 8-10 years of public relations, public affairs, or communications experience preferably in fast-paced, high-growth environments.

  • Extensive relationships with key media, civic, non-profit, and business leaders

  • Be a strong self-starter who is eager to make their mark in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial organization

  • Experience working across various regions and/or territories

  • Excellent organization, communication, writing, and presentation skills

  • Experience working across multiple levels, teams, and regions

  • Experience with a wide range of communication channels including digital, broadcast, radio, and print

  • Must be capable of managing multiple issues and projects at once. Prioritization is key to success.

  • A passion for storytelling and intellectual interest in the future of work, cities, economic development, and entrepreneurship

  • Ability to travel to both existing and new locations in the region

Sales Engineer: As a Zscaler SLED (State, Local, Education) Sales Engineer, you and your Regional Sales Manager will be responsible for helping clients transform their network and application access approach by presenting the Zscaler platform to prospective SLED customers, creating and delivering demonstrations of the products, gathering customer technical requirements, creating evaluation test plans with customers, and then managing the evaluation process to a successful conclusion. To accomplish this, the SLED sales engineer must have a strong technical foundation and a desire to set the vision translating business objectives into enticing and actionable solution design. The sales engineer will act as a trusted technical and business advisor to our clients while aiding the customer's transformational journey. The SLED (State, Local, Education) sales engineer will focus on State & Local business in the Central Region. Expectations of Sales Engineers: * You are the technical expert who best understands, articulates and evangelizes the Zscaler approach to transforming the way users access private applications and the Internet. * You have outstanding verbal and written communication skills. Your presentations and demos for prospects, partners and customers are crisp, informative, and tailored to your audience, be they executives, architects or operators. * You will connect with peers throughout Zscaler to learn, contribute, and share best practices. * You own the technical sales process from stem to stern, working in tandem with your regional sales manager to identify, qualify and scope opportunities, build and maintain account and territory plans, and execute proof of concept engagements as needed to convert opportunities into technical victories. * You're constantly building and maintaining strong relationships with key customer stakeholders as well as the reseller partners and internal Zscaler resources who all contribute to the success of your customers. What we expect from you: * BSCS or equivalent and 4+ years of experience as an SE or systems integrator * Excellent knowledge and proven experience selling to the enterprise customer. Knowledge of enterprise network security technologies including but not limited to: HTTP and web security technologies, proxies, caches, firewalls, SSL/TLS, GRE and IPsec tunneling, DNS, loadbalancing, SD-WAN, VPN's, DLP, anti-virus, spam and spyware solutions (Gateway and SaaS), detection of Advanced Threats, malware detonation/sandboxing, killchain, and analytics. * Proven hands-on experience with systems installation, configuration and administration of routers/switches, macOS, UNIX/Linux and Windows-based systems (prior GPO, Active Directory/LDAP and SSO/SAML experience desirable) * Practical experience working with routing and switching products, including troubleshooting; * You have worked with Channel partners and have a solid understanding of a channel-centric go to market approach. * You understand SaaS based technologies and their implications for the enterprise. * Strong problem solving skills, ability to analyze complex multivariate problems and use a systematic approach to gain quick resolution, often under pressure.
