General Summary of Position:

The person in this position provides clinical physics and dosimetry services related to radiation oncology patient treatment. The physicist, as a member of the clinical team, provides support to the Department Chair and the Radiation Physics Division Chief in support of the departmental clinical and academic missions. These functions are performed in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations and Georgetown University Hospital's philosophy, policies, procedures and standards.

Qualifications:

  • Post graduate degree in Physics.

  • One to three years experience in a large health care setting.

  • The Clinical Physicist shall be board certified by the American Board of Radiology or the American Board of Medical Physics. A non-certified, but Board eligible, physicist will become certified within a specified time at the time of hire.

  • Skilled in math and basic physics.

  • Should also be detail oriented and comfortable working with computers.

  • Ability to work under stressful conditions essential.

In collaboration with the chief physicist, performs a variety of quality control procedures on radiation-producing equipment and radioactive sources. Education: * Master's degree in Radiological Physics or an equivalent discipline with knowledge of radiological sciences is required. Experience: * Approximately one to two years of progressively more responsible experience in Radiation Oncology including high-energy accelerators and brachytherapy.
