Day - 08 Hour (United States of America) A Brief Overview The Director of the Cancer Program Management Office (CPMO) is responsible for directing the staff and operations for the programming, planning, design, and implementation of complex projects and programs for the Cancer DSL. The director establishes and maintains policies, processes, and tools to prioritize projects, effectively assign staffing resources, and ensures program managers are completing projects effectively in support of organizational priorities. The successful candidate works in collaboration with Cancer DSL leadership, clinic managers, assistant managers and other front-line staff to ensure effective strategic planning, and the personnel, operational, and financial management of the program(s) and/or project(s) that cross multiple departments and/or services, to ensure optimal quality, cost-effective service/outcomes, and a safe and efficient work environment.

The director builds strategic relationships across the organization to build alignment and structure programs and initiatives. Key functions of the position include most or all of the following: program planning, development, and implementation; program monitoring and evaluation; budget planning and monitoring; and quality and performance improvement to achieve organizational/departmental goals. The Director assumes full responsibility with considerable independence planning, designing, implementing and evaluating programs, projects, studies or other work undertaken by the Cancer Program Management Office in support of the Cancer Destination Service Line.

What you will do Directs program management organizations for a VP-area/large department in the performance of required job functions. Works with the Cancer DSL leadership team to set annual DSL operations plan, works to prioritize Cancer DSL program/project plan and leads the CPMO team to successfully execute annual plan in support of the Cancer DSL annual operations, quality and fiscal goals. Partners with Operations Directors to identify and develop the leadership needs and internal capacity of the department, and facilitate strategic changes in project scope or assignment across the team.

Implements/oversees system monitors and controls to drive the successful management and reporting of projects and programs; ensures that projects are appropriately managed. Responsible for developing and implementing mechanisms and relationships that create alignment along economic, clinical delivery, service quality, and patient safety dimensions. Manages Human Resources (HR) to ensure quality services and promote employee relations.

Oversees the hiring, orientation, training, scheduling, and supervision of all other staff. Reviews personnel performance evaluations submitted by managers and initiates personnel actions, such as merit increases, promotions, transfers, disciplinary action, and terminations. Manages the selection and prioritization processes for projects to align with organizational strategic goals; assigns resources based on skill and capacity.

Ensures timely and consistent communication to sponsors and stakeholders on project status, scope changes, and resource impacts for projects. Manages appropriate staff levels. Develops goals and priorities, and assigns tasks and projects.

Develops staff skills and training plans. Counsels, trains, and coaches assigned staff. Implements corrective action and conducts performance evaluations.

Represents the department on various committees; conducts regular unit staff meetings. Ensures existing processes support high levels of performance while continuously reviewing and refining those processes to make additional improvements. Delegates tasks and responsibilities to appropriate personnel.

Guides program managers in assessment and documentation of project scope; to describe objectives, requirements, parameters, and constraints of projects. Represent the Cancer DSL in senior leadership communications and participate in various committees and meetings. Effectively leads and coordinates initiatives for the Cancer DSL leadership.

The director interprets policies and procedures, recommends changes as appropriate, and provides relevant feedback to the Cancer DSL Leadership, IT Leadership, Ambulatory Care Leadership, and Hospital Leadership. Coaches and mentors staff through the change process and cycles of continuous improvement Works with various departments and physician groups within the cancer network, develops relationships with key stakeholders, and understands their departmental workflows Promotes effective working relations and works effectively as part of a department team inter- and intra-departmentally to facilitate the departments ability to meet its goals and objectives. Effectively communicates departmental, organizational, and industrial information to staff.

Provides leadership and guidance to other leaders and staff in goal setting, problem solving, resource management, and outcome achievement. Ensures there are adequate ongoing educational programs and training opportunities for all staff in area of responsibility, including orientation of new employees and relevant in-service education sessions. Develops and implements policies and procedures that guide and support the provision of services and which meet the external regulatory and statutory requirements; ensures that policies and procedures are compatible with the function and goals of the hospital and clinics.

Monitors and assures compliance with regulatory agencies, The Joint Commission accrediting, and hospital policy for patient services and environmental and personnel safety. Follows SHC safety and Infection Prevention guidelines, policies and procedures for self, patients, visitors and employees. Interprets and enforces Infection Prevention and Safety policies.

Works collaboratively with Infection Prevention to implement policies in Ambulatory Care as applicable. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Public Policy Administration, or another directly-related field/discipline from an accredited college required. Masters Degree Preferred Eight plus years of progressively responsible and directly related work experience.

Three plus years project / program management experience. One plus years of supervisor / management experience. Preferred Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of project management and improvement methodologies.

Certification preferred, or equivalent combination of education/experience. Ability to communicate effectively at all organizational levels and in situations requiring instructing, persuading, negotiating, conflict resolution, consulting and advising, as well as flawless written communication. Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with widely diverse groups, including individuals at all levels both within and outside the organization and gain their cooperation.

Ability to manage multiple changing priorities and work effectively in a team or independent setting. Ability to plan, organize, prioritize, work independently and meet deadlines.

Ability to provide leadership and influence others.

Ability to resolve conflicts and/or negotiate with others to achieve positive results; establish and maintain effective interpersonal relationships. Ability to make effective oral presentations and prepare concise written reports to a variety of audiences. Ability to plan, organize, motivate, mentor, direct, and evaluate the work of others, and meet deadlines.

Ability to utilize project management tools and to coach staff/team members on tools. Ability to work effectively as a team player and leader. Ability to budget, make financial projections.

Base Pay Scale: Generally starting at $83.89 - $111.16 per hour The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.
