A DAY IN THE LIFE:

Leads complex system-level development and integration projects in IT. Works collaboratively with Tandem's Commercial and Research & Development teams to drive execution of the full scope of the project including definition, planning, execution, risk management, and issue resolution for new product development efforts using Tandem's IT Development Process. Holds team members and peers accountable to deliverable and timeline commitments. Works collaboratively with stakeholders and maintains strong, constructive interpersonal relationships with all levels of the organization. This role is a hands-on leadership position, responsible for system project execution as well as line management of other Project Managers engaged in the Tandem IT department. Secondary responsibilities will include assisting with the assessment and improvement of business processes, quality systems and organizational structures required to realize the company's product development strategy.

  • Leads complex cross-discipline projects and programs in a hands-on fashion, personally responsible for the ultimate success of the system deliverables.

  • Manages and oversees Project Managers for multiple projects in the Tandem IT space which may or may not be associated with the larger system project.

  • Assures coordination of cross-functional resources, timelines, and dependencies between the core team and functional groups

  • Addresses resource and schedule conflicts and ensures standardization of critical processes, tools, and culture across the core teams.

  • Supports and mentors the reporting Project Managers, assisting in their development and career growth.

  • Champions various Tandem processes and protocols to ensure products are developed in accordance with recognized standards.

  • Establishes project management best practices in partnership with others in the PMO and drives their adoption across the company.

  • Supports development of the company's product and technology pipeline, manage phase-gate reviews, coordinate monthly updates for key projects, communicate project changes and the impact of these changes to the senior management team.

  • Develops, maintains, tracks, and presents project information including scope, schedule, risk, resources, budget, etc. Ensure a mechanism to collect this information, maintain it in a database, publish product development dashboards to supplement monthly business and phase reviews.

  • Develops, maintains, tracks, and presents IT Roadmap including scheduled deployments, changes, and metrics.

  • Works with multiple business groups in prioritization, scheduling of projects and programs and provides recommendations from the PMO.

  • Participates in the selection, development, performance appraisal, merit recommendation, and promotion of staff.

  • Ensures department staff is properly trained, per designated training plan, before assuming job responsibilities.

  • Ensures compliance with company policies, including Privacy/HIPAA, and other legal and regulatory requirements.

  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

YOU'RE AWESOME AT:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent experience required.

  • 10 plus years of experience in Project/Program Management in a product development environment

  • 8 plus years of experience managing multi-disciplinary, system-level projects from inception to post-market sustaining using a phase-gate framework.

  • 5 plus years of experience in line management of Program and Project Managers

  • Thorough understanding of engineering fundamentals, principles, theories, and concepts.

  • Knowledgeable and experienced in system level integration of lower-level component products.

  • Knowledgeable and experienced in both waterfall development and Agile methodology,

  • Ability to work in matrixed environment, establishing a sphere of influence with both the functional and vertical organizations.

  • Ability to drive cultural change through implementation of best practices in project teams.

  • Ability to communicate and influence up in order to manage project scope and resources.

  • Ability to keep project teams focused and motivated while creatively working to keep projects on schedule.

  • Proficient in the use of Project Management and Estimation Tools such as MS Project, Work Breakdown Structures, and Agile SW methodology for planning, scheduling, and task estimation.

  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing and to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with persons contacted in the course of performing assigned duties including Company management and outside business associates.

  • Ability to communicate project status and needs with senior management on a regular basis.

  • Ability to represent Tandem at professional and business functions in competent manner.

  • Capable of managing multiple priorities effectively and be able to identify and recommend best course of action from several alternatives.

  • Proven experience in problem solving skills, analytical thinking, and visionary skills.

  • Excellent advocacy and persuasive skills

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and to work well under pressure or tight timelines.

  • Ability to organize and prioritize workflow and to meet established timeframes.

  • Ability to maintain updated knowledge of products, procedures, and changes within the med device industry.

EXTRA AWESOME:

  • MBA Preferred.

  • Certificate in Project Management (PMP/PgMP) and/or Portfolio Management (PfMP) preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, see, talk, or hear in a standard office environment. In a lab setting, occasionally use hands to finger, handle objects, tools, or controls. Employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 45 pounds. Ability to travel up to 10%.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:

The starting base pay range for this position is $180,500 - $205,000 annually. Base pay will vary based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and may also fluctuate depending on candidate's location and the overall job market. In addition to base pay, Tandem offers a competitive compensation package that includes bonus, equity, and a robust benefits package.

Tandem offers health care benefits such as medical, dental, vision, health savings accounts and flexible saving accounts.
