Job Description

SCI is a wholly owned subsidiary of Sanmina Corporation and is headquartered in the "Rocket City" - Huntsville Alabama.

SCI consists of four business areas encompassing the design, manufacture and sales of cutting-edge defense products to the US and foreign governments, integrated manufacturing services for defense

related products for some of the world's leading defense contractors, a rapidly growing services business and a business providing manufacturing services to non-defense high reliability markets like commercial aviation and medical devices.

Responsibilities:

Starting with the foundations of the company's existing business relationships with some of the world's top defense contractors, work with the leadership team to manage the primary operational customer interface to maximize customer satisfaction and achievement of SCI's business goals. Create and execute a customer roadmap to grow the business and execute to exceed customer expectations.

Oversee a team of Program Managers and Administrators that work across a functional organizations to ensure and that all aspects of the division's relationships with its customers are well managed as evidenced by high customer satisfaction, double-digit sales growth, strong operating profitability, free cash flow and return on capital metrics.

Specific responsibilities will include:

  • Manage, motivate, train and develop the Program Management team to effectively lead customer programs according to defined program management practices and disciplines. This will include refining program management office practices, procedures and ensuring adherence to those practices across the organization.

  • Provide leadership in driving strong relationships with customers through coordinating x-functional activities and associated communications with customers. Those activities will include production priorities and statuses, pricing and proposal execution and negotiations, contract acceptance and modification management, and engineering changes and associated implementation.

  • Bring strong financial skills and business acumen to provide leadership to the organization to make smart business decisions to bring the business value along with customer value. Use strong business acumen to help drive growth and sustained profitability through improved process quality and discipline.

  • Serve as a key member of the management team and voice of the customer and bring these to the entire organization to effectively meet customer expectations.

The successful candidate will possess the following characteristics:

  • A 10+ year career with a demonstrated record of business and program management accomplishment in one or more well-respected companies in the defense or closely related sectors (e.g. aviation) of the economy.

  • US Citizenship is essential, the ability to gain Top Secret Clearance is beneficial for future career growth.

  • P&L leadership experience and familiarity is very desirable along with a strong understanding of program management tools, practices and disciplines.

  • A strong knowledge of the regulatory issues in the defense market including its procurement rules (FAR/DFAR), key players and potential customers.

  • Meaningful direct experience with electronics (hardware, software and firmware) from design to manufacturing to end-of-life services.

  • A documented track record of strong personal participation & positive influence in leading and shaping business results

  • A balanced leadership style that is solidly grounded on being familiar with and in control of the details as a foundation for the bigger picture.

  • A demonstrated track record of developing skills in team members to create a high-performance group. A leader who sets and achieves high standards.

Educational and Industry Background:

  • Four-year degree in STEM related areas with an MBA or similar combination of technical and business education is highly desirable.

  • A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience with at least 3 years success in leading people.

  • Experience in the Electronics Manufacturing Services Industry is attractive.
