Job Description:

IMAX is seeking a strategic and insightful Director of Product Strategy to lead our initiatives in the streaming sector, specifically within the Streaming and Consumer Technology (SCT) division which builds and sells B2B software and products to major studios, broadcasters, distributors, and OTT streaming services. This pivotal role involves defining and executing product strategies that align with the evolving market demands and technological trends in video streaming.

What You'll Do:

• Market Insights: Proactively gathering and analyzing market insights, through direct reach out to the market, related to product use cases, video delivery workflows, and technology trends to inform product development and strategy.

• Market Analysis: Compute and evaluate the addressable market for IMAX SCT products, assessing how product roadmap decisions impact market potential. Understand the competitive landscape including Total Addressable Market (TAM), Serviceable Available Market (SAM), and Serviceable Obtainable Market (SOM) assessment to identify where IMAX fits within these segments.

• Strategy Development: Define the product strategy for IMAX Streaming and Consumer Technology products in collaboration with key stakeholders from product, sales, and marketing teams to ensure alignment with business objectives. Document all strategy developments comprehensively to maintain clear communication and alignment. Analyze pricing and go-to-market strategies in collaboration with the product, sales, and marketing teams to ensure competitive and effective market entry and/or positioning.

• Industry Evangelism: Represent IMAX across industry organizations and contribute to product marketing efforts, promoting IMAX SCT products and technologies.

• Roadmap Contribution: Contribute to the mid to long term product roadmap, ensuring it aligns with market needs and IMAX's strategic goals. Use detailed documentation to track progress and adjustments over time.

• Best Practices and Processes: Help establish and implement best practices and processes within the product function to enhance efficiency and effectiveness. Emphasize the roles of thorough customer-facing documentation, and in maintaining standard procedures such as product development phasing/gates, launch and post-launch, ensuring consistency and expectations across teams.

• Collaboration on KPIs: Collaborate with the product team to establish and utilize key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure and guide product function's success. Document and regularly update KPI analyses to reflect current and projected product performance.

What You'll Need:

• Education: Bachelor's or master's degree in business, Technology, Media Management, or a related field.

• Experience: Minimum of 8 years in product management or strategy, with a strong focus on streaming technologies and platforms.

• Industry Knowledge: Deep understanding of the streaming media landscape, including current and emerging technology trends. Expertise in streaming protocols, encoding standards, popular encoding implementations, and content delivery workflows.

• Strategic Partnerships: Experience in building strategic partnerships and alliances within the streaming media industry.

• Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead and inspire a team, drive product vision, and foster collaboration across multiple departments.

• Communication Skills: Exceptional communication and presentation skills, capable of effectively promoting IMAX SCT products and engaging with industry stakeholders.

• Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make data-driven decisions and adapt strategies in a dynamic industry.

• Documentation Skills: Expertise in creating clear, comprehensive documentation to support product strategies, decisions, and processes. Prepare tactical documents such as product specifications, one-sheets, full Product Requirements Documents (PRDs), use-case descriptions, and workflow diagrams.

• Preferred: Experience working with global teams and in a multi-stakeholder environment.
