Product Marketing focuses on the strategies and tactics associated with marketing & selling products. The Product Marketing Team is the interface between the market and the company.
The Director of Product Marketing will lead the Product Marketing organization and be responsible for: market sizing, market segmentation, value proposition development, mastering the competitive landscape and positioning, pre-sales support, sales empowerment, transaction assistance, pre-launch strategy, pricing input, and post-launch support for all hardware and software products.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES
Manage a diverse and talented Product Marketing team;
Master the competitive landscape across a diverse product-line;
Develop clear value proposition across a diverse product-line;
Identify market trends;
Develop the strategy and facilitate product launch for all new products;
Drive product adoption;
Empower and support the field sales team;
Communicate and present to outside industry experts, key customers/prospects, and advocacy groups;
Interface with all departments to deliver consistent knowledge transfer on evolving product line and competitive positioning;
Develop sales tools in support of the entire product suite (competitive handbook, product-demo training, presentations);
Define key features/functionality needed to compete new products; Communicate with Product-Development teams on market requirements for new products and current product enhancements;
Participate in marketing and sales events (tradeshows, seminars, presentations, demos, webinars, and other external opportunities).
Corporate profitability & company quota attainment
Timely and successful execution of assigned product marketing projects/imperatives
Experience and Skills:
Management of a Product Marketing department/team for a software/technology company. Must have a strong background in software (SaaS, Enterprise, and Analytics solutions);
Primary domain expertise in product marketing, hardware technology and software technology. Secondary domain experience desired in community corrections, electronic-monitoring technology, law enforcement, alcohol- and location-monitoring research, initiatives, and trends;
Excellent communicator with proven ability to clearly convey complex ideas and data in written, presentation and spoken formats to a variety of audiences, including executives, mid-level management, engineers, customers, partners, sales personnel, and third-party organizations
Excellent people and management skills to interact with staff, colleagues, and cross-functional teams
Experience selling/presenting to high-ranking government officials and decision makers or equivalent business decision makers
Making the complex, simple; proven ability to take complex ideas and explain in audience-appropriate levels
Creative, with technical ability - a natural catalyst for communication in the organization
Strong interpersonal and presentation skills - great story-teller
Bachelor of Science in Business, Marketing or Technology-related field preferred; advanced degree or equivalent years of experience desired.
Deep understanding of the product-marketing function from both a strategic and tactical perspective. Demonstrated expertise of bringing a product to market. This includes deciding the products positioning and messaging, launching the product and ensuring salespeople and customers understand it. Demonstrated results of post-launch demand and usage of the product.
Successful management of product marketing strategy, personnel, tactics and budget; success with buyers at all levels; successful history working within multi-department cross-functional team structures; active participation in merger and acquisition processes.
