Director, Product Communications Strategy

We're looking for someone who is passionate about stories, who can make sure that the best ideas are part of our PR campaigns and events. As the Director of Product Communications Strategy, you will be in a leadership role helping define the voice of EA's portfolio of games, its studios, as well as how that connects with our overall brand. In concert with the other leaders of the PR team, we'd like your help to guide the teams as they develop integrated communications strategies that elevate our products and our company. We would also rely on you to help develop and coach a team of PR professionals eager to grow in their strategic and creative thinking, and in their careers.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Work with the communications team and teams across the organization to develop multifaceted plans and cultivate creative communications strategies.

  • Create powerful messages and storylines to be delivered through PR and owned channels.

  • Partner with marketing strategy, creative and activation leadership to deliver highly impactful storylines and PR strategies.

  • Partner with studio leads to help develop communication strategies that elevate individual products, the studio, and EA.

  • Increase awareness and brand recognition through various PR and media strategies.

  • Coordinate and work with other members from the communications team in executing strategy, which includes digital, research, events, and partnerships.

  • Help prepare principals for media interviews to ensure key messages are consistently conveyed.

  • Develop strategies for the respective teams to pitch and place work in national, state and local news outlets.

  • Work with internal team and outside PR agencies, as well as program budgets.

  • Develop key messages, and draft press materials and other communications when required.


  • 10-12 years of experience in communications, strategic media relations or public relations

  • Must be passionate about communications and media relations with finger on the pulse of the latest industry trends and can deliver measurable results

  • Must be a strategic thinker with experience conceiving and leveraging relationships

  • Demonstrated strength in building, managing, and motivating high-performance teams

  • Ability to build strong collaborative relationships with a diverse range of partners

  • Excellent communication skills and the proven ability to influence at multiple levels of the organization

  • Proven ability to think ahead, problem solve, engage proactively and take initiative

  • Strong process-minded planner who can determine deadlines, logistics and operational plans for multi-dimensional programs and events

  • Excellent persuasive writing, editing and verbal communications skills, including presentation skills

VIEW JOBS 5/23/2020 12:00:00 AM 2020-08-21T00:00 Summary of Major Responsibilities The Global Product Strategy Director will be responsible for product strategy and lifecycle management of the current and future Breast portfolio of products, from concept to obsolescence. The Global Product Strategy Director will manage global considerations for the product, such as report enhancements, global expansion opportunities, line extension opportunities, indication expansion, partner collaborations, product strategy plan, and the timing of potential product end-of-life scenarios. He/she will sit on a product development core team as the business lead and will drive interactions with a broad range of functions involved with the development and commercialization of Exact Sciences products; including R&D, medical, operations, program management, commercial, finance, regulatory, and legal functions. This position collaborates with and influences varying levels of internal and external personnel and requires a strong team-focused approach, direct interactions with customers, and public presentations. This person will accomplish their tasks by relying on a deep understanding and knowledge of clinical needs, customer needs, market trends, and competitive pressures as well as establishing short and long-term objectives and plans that transform the product strategy into clear measurable results. Strong business acumen and customer focus are essential to the success of this position as well as the ability to distill complex information from multiple sources into clear, compelling and actionable business cases. The Global Product Strategy Director is expected to have broad knowledge of the healthcare landscape and commercialization of products, and familiarity with the clinical and technical aspects of product development. This position will be focused on developing a product strategy roadmap around the current Oncotype DX Breast assay as well as strategies around building a portfolio of products within the Breast Cancer space. Previous knowledge and experience within breast cancer oncology is highly desirable. Essential Duties and Responsibilities * Maximize the value of key product lines by developing and maintaining the long-term product strategy and business plan for the product; including a multi-generational product roadmap and product-level profit and loss statements. * Analyze and incorporate the impact of key market and clinical trends, customer needs, and competitive offerings to develop differentiated product roadmaps, new product features and functionalities, and recommendations for investments to sustain existing product growth, such as additional clinical studies. * Provide product management leadership, from concept to commercialization, as an integral member of a small cross-functional product development leadership team; which includes leading voice of customer research, product definition, product features and performance requirements and tradeoffs, product value proposition and business case. * Understand the requirements to develop a regulated product and the needs of various business models and customer groups; including HCPs, Pathology Labs, and Payers, in order to facilitate the development of products and services that will fulfill their needs. * Work with cross-functional groups, such as product development, clinical, regulatory, reimbursement, quality, operations, and commercial, to ensure success of the development and commercialization of the product. * Build relationships with key opinion leaders and strategic partners to support product management objectives. * Monitor and optimize existing product business including maintaining product P&Ls and forecasts, monitoring product delivery and quality issues, monitoring competitive landscape, interacting with key opinion leaders, and providing support to the commercial team as needed. * Manage the product throughout its lifecycle; including recommendations regarding iterations and next generation development requirements. * Other responsibilities as assigned. * Excellent communication skills; including oral, written and presentation techniques. * Ability to integrate and apply feedback in a professional manner. * Self-starter with the ability to prioritize and drive to results with a high emphasis on quality. * Uphold company mission and values through accountability, innovation, integrity, quality, and teamwork. * Support and comply with the company's Quality Management System policies and procedures. * Regular and reliable attendance. * Ability to work on a mobile device, tablet, or in front of a computer screen and/or perform typing for approximately 90% of a typical working day. * Ability and means to travel between Madison and Redwood City locations. * Ability to travel 20% of working time away from work location, may include overnight/weekend travel. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications * Bachelor's Degree in Life Sciences or similar discipline. * 15+ years of relevant industry experience with product development and/or commercialization. * 7+ years of product strategy/lifecycle product management and/or P&L management experience in the diagnostic, Pharma, Life Sciences or medical device field. * Demonstrated ability to generate and articulate a strong product vision and strategy and carry it all the way to tactical planning and successful execution in a dynamic marketplace. * Successful track record of achieving product line goals. * Demonstrated ability to effectively distill a large amount of complex customer, clinical, market, and technical data from multiple sources into a clear product value proposition and to articulate and communicate this value proposition to a range of customer and internal audiences. * Demonstrated success in managing multiple stakeholders and resolving conflict within teams. * Demonstrated ability to build relationships and work effectively as a leader and/or team member with cross-functional teams; including R&D, clinical, operations, commercial, finance, legal, and business development. * Familiarity with product development and project management methodologies in regulated environments (FDA, ISO, CE). * Demonstrated ability to perform the Essential Duties of the position with or without accommodation. Preferred Qualifications * Advanced degree; such as MS or PhD in Life Sciences and/or MBA. * Strong knowledge and experience in the area of oncology including external trends and issues in the global oncology landscape. * Strong analytical skills with experience with financial modeling or data analysis skills. * Ability to build and analyze financial models to forecast and track results. * Experience in a regulated market space including CLIA, FDA, CE. * Experience with development and commercialization of products outside the United States. * Experience with driving clinical adoption and reimbursement of value-based diagnostics through clinical and economic impact studies. * Experience with business development including in-licensing and external partnerships. * Experience with working in both the clinical environment (i.e,.
