Primary Purpose:

The Director Procurement COE (Center of Excellence) role will be a catalyst for optimizing Tallgrass's Transformation Initiative across the company. The successful candidate will be responsible for translating strategic objectives into actionable plans to achieve business goals, deliver cost savings, mitigate risk and create a competitive advantage. The focus will be on transforming end-to-end processes to world-class standards, driving continuous improvement, and managing the change control process across all Business Units (BUs) to ensure superior performance across all Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). This role will support the development of a standardized and digitized management process to drive consistent and predictable outcomes, working closely with Corporate Business Model Leaders to align efforts with overall Tallgrass's business objectives and strategies.

Essential duties and responsibilities

  • Change Management Leadership: Lead the overall change management initiatives across all business models within the company.

  • Strategic Planning Execution: Drive and execute the Annual Strategic Plan, including developing and managing Commodity/Category Strategies. This includes spend analysis, benchmarking, cost and market analysis, and staying abreast of global technology and economic trends.

  • Cross-Functional Coordination: Work closely with projects, operations, engineering, development, finance, and other departments to align procurement activities with business needs.

  • Support New Projects Development: Ensure timely and cost-effective sourcing of materials and services to support new projects development.

  • Comprehensive Strategy Development: Develop and execute a comprehensive procurement transformation strategy that aligns with the company's vision and goals.

  • Continuous Improvement: Identify key areas for improvement and innovation within the procurement function. Champion continuous improvement initiatives to enhance process efficiency, reduce costs, and improve quality.

  • Performance Monitoring: Establish metrics and KPIs to measure the success of transformation initiatives.

  • Standardization and Digitization: Support the development and implementation of a Management Operating System to standardize and digitize business and functional processes, ensuring consistent and predictable outcomes.

  • Relationship Building: Build strong relationships with key commodity managers and internal stakeholders to create a robust pipeline.

  • MBR Ownership: Own and support the Monthly Business Review (MBR) process, including implementation, KPI tracking, and policy dissemination.

  • Corporate Alignment: Align and support Corporate Business Model Leaders to ensure proper implementation and alignment with strategic objectives.

  • Communication and Training: Develop and implement communication and training plans for procurement, projects and sourcing Leaders, ensuring alignment across the entire program and business models at all organizational levels.

  • Transformation Deployment: Achieve and maintain high levels of adoption, maturity, and compliance for transformation initiatives across the business.

  • Stakeholder Alignment: Collaborate with Projects, Commercial, Operations, Finance, and Quality to ensure cohesive project execution.

  • Project Execution Improvement: Enhance turnaround times for project execution to increase efficiency.

  • Strategic Partnerships: Identify and leverage strategic partners and supplier capabilities that align with business needs.

  • Material and Services Outlook Management: Review opportunities and implement inflation mitigation strategies focusing on the 80/20 principle for materials and services based on spend and forecast.

  • Advanced Sourcing Techniques: Utilize advanced simulation techniques in sourcing to optimize processes.

  • Cost Analysis: Perform advanced should-cost analysis to drive cost efficiency.

  • Commodity Management: Implement hedging and market intelligence strategies in commodity management.

  • Financial Acumen: Demonstrate advanced financial skills, particularly in working capital management, project cost workbooks, and budgeting.

  • Risk Management: Develop and utilize supply chain risk cost modeling and manage supply chain risks effectively.

  • Process Redesign: Lead the redesign of procurement processes to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance quality.

Minimum requirements:

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Industrial Engineering or a related discipline.

  • Master's degree from an accredited institution in Management and Supply Chain.

Experience/Specific Knowledge:

  • A minimum of ten (10) years' active and direct work experience in procurement, supply chain, vendor management, and contract management.

  • A minimum of ten (10) years' active and direct work experience in supply chain automation, working capital intelligence, Should Costing, Supply Chain Risk Management

  • Solid knowledge of financial terms and principles.

  • Strong reading, listening and analytical skills and logical thought processes, with the ability to identify and resolve complex issues/problems.

  • Ability to successfully organize and perform multiple tasks simultaneously, frequently under strict deadlines.

  • Ability to analyze events at the transaction level and apply sound and consistent resolutions to such events.

  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

  • Experience working on projects from a procurement, project controls, and/or project management perspective.

  • A minimum of ten (10) years working in a Multinational Company.

Certifications, Licenses & Registrations:

  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers.

Competencies, Skills & Abilities:

  • Experience in implementing or managing source-to contract, purchase-to-pay and/or global business services.

  • Excellent communication skills and capable to animate diverse and demanding stakeholders to foster collaborations, implement best practices, and drive continuous improvement. You are service oriented, capable of bringing a strategic vision and hands-on contribution to achieve your goals.

  • Fluent in English.

  • Analytical, fact based, strong conceptual skills and able to make solid business cases.

  • A strong ability to structure, organize several activities and initiatives.

  • Demonstrated experience training in both large group settings and one-on-one.

  • Ability to work independently to manage tasks and timelines.

  • Ability to identify expectations in an employee/employer relationship.

Working Conditions:

  • Required to carry a mobile phone and be available to respond during working and non-working hours.

  • Occasional overnight travel and weekend travel may be required.

  • In this role there is a travel component of 25%.

  • May be required to work nights and weekends, or non-traditional work hours as needed.

  • Successful candidate will be required to clear a drug screen and a complete background check, including a credit report, after an offer has been extended and prior to being employed.

Above the minimum requirements; not required but advantageous in this position:

  • One or more or the following Certifications preferred: C.P.M.; C.P.C.M.; C.S.C.P.; C.P.S.M.; C.P.P.

  • Experience using Oracle ERP Cloud software.

  • Fluent in a second language such as Spanish
