The Data CoE has been in existence for over 3 years with the mission to improve R&D decision making through the better use of its data. The group has concentrated on start-up fundamentals including Infrastructure build, Platform delivery, team set-up and early value delivery through use cases. The focus now is driving implementation so we can maximise the effective use of new tools and the available data by users across all of R&D from those reporting the data, those conducting data discovery through to experts in data and computational science. This will require individuals with leadership qualities, an appreciation of the value of data and the ability to drive the embedding of new ways of working. The Opportunity ...

The Process & Strategy team, with the Data CoE, is focused on defining, developing, and implementing both internal and external processes and strategies to drive the re-use of data in the drug discovery process.

We're looking for a strategically focused expert to guide how we (internally) operate and (externally) deliver analytics platform projects. You'll need a proven track record in demonstrating business process change and strategy development within the technology and data space. You'll also be capable of driving the creation of methodologies, formalising operating models, and developing long-term business strategies. This role will interface with various roles within Tech and R&D, so it's important that you're able to effectively influence senior leaders.

Key Responsibilities ...

  • Drive the development of future strategies and plans for the Data CoE, working directly with the leadership team to brainstorm, document, and operationalize.

  • Partner with internal and external teams to help frame process challenges, conduct in-context research, help to design process improvements, and facilitate collaborative workshops

  • Establish KPIs to measure performances against and determine the effectiveness of implemented strategies and identify areas for strategic improvement

  • Drive process improvements and consistency across the Data CoE to ensure efficient and effective delivery of Data CoE initiatives

  • Provide process critical insights, ensuring cross functional alignment of goals and teams, to drive key focus areas within the Data CoE forward

  • Provide short and long-term strategic recommendations to the Leadership Team within the Data CoE that are meant to develop and capitalize business opportunities.

  • Create the Data CoE vision, culture, and performance standards as well as overseeing its adoption in all levels of the department

  • Leverage design thinking for practical, creative resolution of challenges faced by the Data CoE

  • Be willing to be a player/coach. Although, part of a large organization we are a small team and we strongly believe in rolling our sleeves up

Why You?Basic qualifications:

  • BA in business or strategy

  • 10-15 years of relevant and practical experience in corporate strategy, process management, and leading teams

  • Able to understand various process structures and common methods in process transformation

  • Strong analytical and quantitative problem-solving ability

  • Experience managing high performing teams

  • Experience working with Life Sciences Research & Development (i.e., Gene, Assay, Clinical, Real World Evidence, Product, Portfolio)

  • Working knowledge and experience with common data analytics software (Tableau, Spotfire, ZoomData, etc.)

  • Working knowledge and experience with Hadoop and relational databases

Preferred qualifications:

  • MBA
