Job Summary:
BDO is seeking a Director to join BDO's thriving Privacy & Data Protection (PDP) Practice as a data protection and privacy subject matter expert and engagement leader. BDO's PDP practice provides global solutions for our clients to address their data protection and privacy needs. This is an exciting position for a professional that would like to work with both domestic and international clients and professionals.
The PDP Director is responsible for maintaining existing client relationships, developing new relationships to drive new opportunities for the firm, delivering quality work product for clients, managing project teams and ensuring that BDO projects are on-time and on-budget.
Job Duties:
Develops and delivers global data protection and privacy strategies to client C-suite/board
Builds cross-culture functionality for clients to operationalize global privacy programs
Develops and delivers privacy operations program plans for global corporate clients
Manages BDO USA team members and collaborates with BDO Member Firms and offshore team members
Provides detailed level information to clients around CCPA, CPRA, PIPL, GDPR, LGPD, PIPEDA among other domestic and global privacy laws
Guides and advises team members around project budget and scheduling
Establishes new relationships to drive new opportunities to BDO
Complies with BDO's Quality Risk Management, Data Protection, and other Frameworks to ensure consistency across service delivery
Manages and maintains relationships with client professionals, and introduces other BDO professionals to expand on existing relationships
Manages the day-to-day project requirements, as well as the on-site and/or remote team
Ensures clients receive timely, actionable and thoughtful responses to questions, data subject requests, or supervisory authority inquiries
Builds relationships with other BDO professionals, cross-sells into different industries and services, and participates in BDO and industry events where subject matter expertise is requested
Ensures corporate clients are provided quality level services
Updates appropriate customer relationship management to ensure appropriate pipeline reporting
Reviews client executive reports, and provides feedback to team members
Develops proposals, responds to RFP/RFI's and ensures Master Service Agreements and engagement letters are managed according to BDO standards
Utilizes knowledge of client needs to develop project and resource plans, establish reporting and metrics, and provide client with regular updates
Participates in and conducts business unit, legal, IT, privacy, and governance interviews and meetings, as needed
Proofreads and edits executive reports, prior to presenting to prospects and existing clients
Manages BDO client and BDO Partner expectations at all levels
Mentors team members to ensure quality of work product is consistent throughout client engagements, and BDO standards are applied for every engagement
Manages multiple large, complex and potentially long-term engagements and clients
Manages client expectations at all levels of the organization, including supporting in-person presentations to senior level executives
Support the Data Protection Officer for clients, as required
Develops and manages project budgets, reviews invoices for consistency, and ensures that invoices are delivered in a timely manner
Acts as a leader, and projects a professional, positive attitude toward client and firm personnel
Manages a team of professionals on a project or regional basis
Other duties as required
Supervises the workload of Sr. Managers, Managers, Senior Associates, and Associates on assigned engagements and reviews work product, as needed
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Ensures Sr. Managers, Managers, Senior Associates, and Associates are trained on all relevant software, practice tools, and processes
Evaluates the performance of Sr. Managers, Managers, Senior Associates, and Associates, and assists in the development of goals and objectives to enhance professional development
Delivers periodic performance feedback, and completes performance evaluations for Sr. Managers, Managers, Senior Associates, and Associates in accordance with Firm guidance
Acts as mentor to Sr. Managers, Managers, Senior Associates, and Associates, as appropriate
Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Education:
Bachelor's degree, required
Master's, Juris Doctorate, or MBA, preferred
Experience:
Ten (10) or more years of consulting experience, required
Three (3) or more years of data protection or privacy experience, required
Experience working with Fortune 500 clients, preferred
Five (5) or more years of experience managing large, complex privacy projects, required
License(s)/Certification(s):
One (1) or more of the following privacy certifications, required:
CIPP/E, CIPP/US, CIPM, CIPT, CDPSE or other privacy certifications
OneTrust, TrustArc, or other privacy enabled technology solutions, preferred
Software:
OneTrust, BigID, and other privacy and GRC software
Strong Microsoft PowerPoint skills, required
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, especially Visio, required, including Office 365, OneDrive, and SharePoint, preferred
Knowledge of database systems, software development lifecycle, and technology company operations, preferred
Language(s):

Executive presence, with the ability to act as primary contact on assigned engagements
Ability to up-sell after the first engagement
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as presentation skills
Strong analytical and advanced research skills related to industry trends, market competition and technology
Solid organizational skills, especially the ability to meet project deadlines with a focus on details
Ability to successfully multi-task while working independently or within a group environment
Ability to work in a deadline-driven environment, and handle multiple projects simultaneously
Ability to interact effectively with people at all organizational levels of the Firm and with clients
Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with internal and client personnel
Ability to encourage a team environment on engagements, and contribute to the professional development of assigned personnel
Individual salaries that are offered to a candidate are determined after consideration of numerous factors including but not limited to the candidate's qualifications, experience, skills, and geography.
California Range: $200,000 - $225,000
Colorado Range: $200,000 - $225,000
New York City/ Valhalla Range: $200,000 - $225,000
Washington Range: $200,000 - $225,000
Washington DC Range: $200,000 - $225,000
