Director Principal Quantitative Methodology Statistics
YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The primary responsibilities of this role, Director Principal Quantitative Methodology Statistics, are to:
Serve as a statistical advisor for study and project statisticians, and SDI-statisticians working in research as well as clinical teams and project teams on the use of Bayesian Statistics;
Drive the development and application of Bayesian statistics for planning and analysis of clinical trials, thereby ensures that these are based on state-of-art statistical methodology and meet regulatory requirements;
Provide statistical and methodological consultation on special statistical methodology or on complex statistical, scientific and regulatory issues to statisticians and mentors and supports statisticians in using Bayesian statistics;
Drive the development and evolution of software tools to decrease entry hurdles to the use of Bayesian statistics;
Represent the function with respect to statistical aspects of clinical development programs and products to internal and external stakeholders;
Keep abreast of methodological and regulatory issues, anticipates new needs in the area of responsibility and ensures development of innovative solutions and advices implementation;
Influence decision making processes and supports quantitative decision-making during drug development and/or life-cycle management by use of appropriate Bayesian statistical methodology;
Develop and implement innovative Bayesian statistical methodology for the respective field of responsibility, if appropriate in cooperation with academic experts;
Take over tasks of a study and or project statistician as needed.
WHO YOU ARE
Your success will be driven by your demonstration of our LIFE values. More specifically related to this position, Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:
Master of Science or Ph.D. in Biostatistics, Statistics, Mathematics, Physics or related fields;
At least eight years of experience as statistician or equivalent with significant time spent in the Pharma, Biotech, or similar sector;
Thorough knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry including understanding of clinical drug development process or life-cycle management and associated documents and regulations;
High level of expertise in multiple fields relevant for his or her statistics sub-function in application of Bayesian Statistics including applicable software;
Demonstrated excellent interpersonal, leadership and communication skills and ability to work independently and collaboratively;
Good knowledge of statistical programming languages (including R or SAS) and Bayesian software (including BUGS, JAGS and Stan);
Fluency in English.
