Overview

Responsible for directing and developing Kirkland's forward-looking value strategy, integrating the various levers (prices, promotions, etc.) and external marketing tactics (circular, digital, etc.). Leads advanced and in depth analysis of the impact of these levers and tactics on customer response and overall financial performance. Ensures collaboration among the team, Operations, Merchandising, Marketing, Finance, and other key business partners in the recommendation of plans that optimize profit, drive sales and increase market share while driving improvement in consumer price image. Oversees the development of innovative methods and practices in reviewing, analyzing and presenting solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Directs process improvements and develops new approaches to the conventional methodology of how analysis and reporting of department, category and item level monthly results

  • Drives the utilization of best practice approaches and new methods of running analysis based on expertise in Statistics and SAS. Reaches out to experts in the field of Revenue Management and attends conferences to understand latest trends and best practices

  • Directs analysis of the impact of price changes, ensures recommendation of price adjustments and the presentation of results to Category Managers or senior management. Communicates and publishes fact-based results to management as well as makes recommended changes to pricing strategy

  • Directs analysis of all promotional activity, reporting results and recommendations to Category Managers and/or senior management

  • Drives the development and improvement of standard pricing and promotional analytic report templates, presentations, methodologies and processes through advanced analytical thought processing

  • Directs the creation, analysis, and interpretation of price tests by the analysts. Will review and approve Analysts' recommendations based on results

  • Directs the analysis of price changes at the store/market level. Manages all post analytics for price changes and store zone changes

  • Oversees the process of analysis and presentation of results for competitor pricing strategies through which national and local retail data are used and for market level competitive data that looks at multiple retailers

  • Develops and oversees the verification of competitive integrity and the setup of competitive shops by analysis of locations and items

  • Develops and mentors staff through on-boarding, open communication, training and development opportunities and performance management processes; builds and maintains employee morale and motivation; ensures the team is appropriately staffed with required competencies; fosters a diverse and inclusive workplace. Manages and develops analysts' leadership skills and their approaches and methods to analyze, report, and recommend new pricing and promotional strategies

  • Plans, develops and manages departmental expense and capital budgets

  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Master's degree and 5 or more years of experience in Retail, CPG, Sales or Marketing in an advanced analytics role OR Bachelor's degree and 10 or more years of experience in Retail, CPG, Sales or Marketing in an advanced analytics role

  • Experience with analyzing and reporting data in order to identify issues, trends, or exceptions to drive improvement of results and find solutions, including focus on profitability and ROI

  • SAS or other statistical / data manipulation software experience

  • Experience with competitor analysis

  • Previous experience presenting and coordinating executive level meetings

  • Minimum 5 years management experience, including hiring, developing, motivating, and directing others

  • Experience in reviewing and analyzing retail data (such as Nielsen, IRI, etc.); preferred

  • Experience in identifying operational issues and recommending and implementing strategies to resolve problems

  • Working knowledge of Business Intelligence tools

  • Experience with Revenue management or Pricing analysis, preferred

  • Experience in reporting deeper analysis of broad based promotional events and targeted campaigns, preferred

  • Intermediate to advanced level skill in SQL (create complex queries using nested SELECT statements, simplify queries by creating new views, deleting and altering tables, using Boolean logic, working with NULL values, constructing queries, etc.) preferred

  • Experience with Business Objects and other reporting packages

  • Ability to sit at a computer for extended periods of time
