GENERAL SUMMARY Provides direction for all activities related to the physical plant and physical environment throughout the New London Hospital (NLH) and Newport Health Center (NHC) campuses.# Plan, direct, and manage the operational activities of facilities management, environmental services, security, environmental safety services and clinical engineering. Serves as a resource to senior leadership in guiding capital planning for NLH and NHC properties.# Oversees the maintenance of buildings and grounds, the provision of utilities/infrastructure and redundancies for continuous operations of systems.# Manage facilities-related projects, including capital construction and renovation projects throughout the organization. Manage facilities-related contractual services and relationships. Ensures that all federal, state and local regulations, codes and standards are met to provide a safe and healthy environment for all New London Hospital and Newport Health Center properties.#### FUNCTIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Department Operations:Provides leadership oversight of Facilities Management, Environmental and Linen Services, Environmental Safety Services, Security and Clinical Engineering.# Serves as NLH liaison with contracted food service partner. Supports and leads employee and patient engagement initiatives of the organization. Leads the establishment of the procedures and guidelines for quality services in the departments; evaluates processes and procedures to assure the highest standard of service and compliance. Ensures adequate resources are available to deliver services. Participates with Senior Leadership in planning, forecasting and meeting emerging facility needs including consideration of environmental sustainability of hospital systems. Develops programs and procedures to ensure the safety and security of the people and buildings. Develop, maintain and communicate safety metrics. Develops, implements and documents preventive maintenance programs and schedules for all NLH properties. Ensures the quality of the environment to include the systems for heating, ventilation, and air conditioning. Manages all facilities related construction and renovation projects - assures adequate planning, permitting, communication, monitoring, documentation and financial controls to complete projects in a timely and cost-effective manner. Organize and manage architects, engineers, and contractors to meet project goals and deadlines. Manages all facilities-related contracts and relationships. Identify and implement performance measures for all assigned departments to help achieve the operational goals of the organization. Works effectively and professionally with others including superiors, colleagues, system members and individuals inside and outside of the organization. Ensures compliance with all environmental and safety permits, water and wastewater tracking/reporting, and cultivating strong relationships with environmental and safety regulatory agencies. Support the leader responsible for Emergency Response in all emergency planning and disaster preparedness responsibilities. Maintains own professional competence through continuing education and certification programs. Maintains professional affiliations and engages in professional activities, as appropriate. Administration and Management: Ensures that all regulatory requirements are met. Prepares, maintains, and issues all records, reports, projects or surveys required by organization leaders and external agencies. Prepares annual budgets and manages budget though the year. Serves on Hospital committees as requested Participates in Dartmouth Health (DH) network meetings and initiatives. Support system member departments in the spirit of continuous improvement for creating improved work environments throughout the DH system. Represents the Hospital in various community functions. Performs other duties as assigned. POSITION REQUIREMENTS Skills and Abilities Working knowledge of hospital departments Strong leadership abilities Ability to lead and motivate employees Ability to comprehend a wide range of technical subjects Working knowledge of building systems to include HVAC, boiler and chiller plants, medical gas systems, fire alarm/sprinkler systems, communication systems, environmental services and life safety systems. Ability to interpret standards and regulations, prepare and manage budgets, prepare written and financial reports, and review/interpret statistical data.
