  • LASA (Full time/Day shift) to Providence California Regional Services in Burbank, CA.

We are seeking a Director Planned Giving

  • LASA reporting to the Executive Director of Planned Giving for the Los Angeles Service Area, the Director of Planned Giving will manage, plan, coordinate and implement a comprehensive estate planning and gift program; interpret and apply laws and regulations to all aspects of charitable giving; obtain planned gifts; develop and expand major/planned giving donor relationships; and broaden the philanthropic constituency through major/planned giving donor fundraising for the Valley Service Area.

In this position you will have the following responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate Providence St. Joseph Health's core values of dignity, justice, compassion, integrity and excellence to customers, employees, and visitors; and provide quality service in the performance of work assignments and duties

  • Develop and implement an effective planned giving strategy that takes into account the unique mission of PSJH and the special needs of donors and potential donors

  • Develop, monitor and update a comprehensive one-year and long-range strategic plan including measurable goals and objectives for planned giving program

  • Identify, cultivate, solicit and steward current and prospective donors who have the ability to execute a major/planned gift

  • Formulate individualized solicitation strategies for planned giving prospects

  • In consultation with donor's advisers, provide donors with legal and tax information regarding bequests and life income gifts

  • Draft and review gift illustrations and legal documents

  • With counsel, advise the Foundation and Medical Centers on legal matters relating to planned giving, with specific regard for legal requirements and consequences

  • Ensure implementation of systems to avoid potential litigation risks related to planned giving

  • Protect the best interests of the existing and potential donor base while advising donors of potential means for donating property and/or funds to the Foundation

  • Respond to inquiries concerning planned gifts and bequests in a timely manner

  • Track estate gifts from probate to completion

  • Work closely with other Foundation staff on cultivating annual, major, and planned giving prospects

  • Identify, cultivate, and educate financial professionals (attorneys, financial/estate planners, realtors) about PHS and its mission

  • Develop and conduct planned giving seminars for potential donors and/or professionals

  • Develop budgets and other necessary long and short term planning processes to ensure continuity and growth to the program

  • Oversee and ensure quality of all mailings and/or publications internally and/or externally that are related to planned giving

  • Provide staffing for the Planned Giving Committee and participate on committees as directed

  • Manage the planned giving recognition society

  • Maintain expertise in technical aspects of planned giving

  • Protect the best interests of the existing and potential donor base while advising donors of potential means for donating property and/or funds to the Foundation

  • Oversee planned gift donor records and database

  • Assist the Controller in providing an audit trail for planned giving transactions

  • Maintain established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, improving organization performance program, and safety standards

  • Expand the vision and mission of Providence Saint Joseph , Holy Cross and Tarzana Foundations

  • Maintain professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations

  • Attend and serve on professional/civic service organizations as hospital/foundation representative as required

  • Attend meetings as required

  • Perform other duties as assigned or requested

Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Bachelor's Degree

  • Certified as a Fund Raising Executive

  • 10 or more years in planned giving or related field at a large non-profit institution; strategic planning; proposal development; and planned giving portfolio management. Demonstrated experience and success with estate planning and major gift solicitation required

  • 8 years leadership experience

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • J.D. Law degree and experience in the practice of law, including specific emphasis in areas of taxation, trust and estates, probate, corporations, contracts, and real estate

RESPONSIBILITIES: * Create and maintain the style of the show. * Manage and direct a team of designers to accomplish that end, according to the production schedule. * Review storyboards for all visual elements, working in conjunction with the Storyboard Supervisor. * Oversee creation and maintenance of model packs and style guides, including but not limited to expressions, character construction, mouth charts, character turnarounds, props and main backgrounds. * Oversee workflow to ensure all deadlines are met. * Assist with the generation of creative retake materials. * Communicate appropriate creative notes to overseas studio. * With LP's prior approval, assign any necessary overflow design or color work to freelance artists and supervise artists' work. * Create rough and clean designs and color as necessary to ensure deadlines are met. * Liaise with Network, Executive Producer and Line Producer to manage the creation of any special artwork or materials needed for press art, on-air promotions or any other uses to ensure the style of the show is maintained. * Guide artists through the design process and communicate any special needs. * Rough Design: * Break down script and review design lists with artists and production staff to generate rough character, prop and background designs for storyboard artists to use. * Assign designs to specific artists. * Communicate any special design needs or directives to the artists and appropriate production staff. * Review completed designs with artists. * Communicate and supervise any necessary changes. * Meet regularly with appropriate production staff to communicate progress of department. * Communicate and manage schedules, deadlines and priorities - and any changes to same -- to the design team/artists. * Review completed designs with appropriate creative supervisors and ensure any further revisions are implemented. * Clean-up: * Direct clean-up process with artists, including monitoring schedule, deadlines and priorities. * Review clean designs and layouts with appropriate creative supervisors and oversee any revisions or changes, as needed. * Color: * Oversee color stylists and BG painters and communicate creative directives of the show, including special needs, such as lighting requirements, stylistic concerns and/or special color/palette needs. Review color models and BGs. * Communicate and supervise any necessary changes. * If necessary, assist with revisions. * Attend color correction sessions, as available. Basic Qualifications BASIC QUALIFICATIONS: * At least 5-7 years experience in an Art Director or Supervisor role. * Fundamental understanding of form, design, color principles. * Experience in Animation a plus.
