Job Summary

The Director, Philanthropy is responsible for the identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of donors capable of giving gifts of $50,000 or more. They will manage a portfolio of 100 + prospects and will be expected to be capable of achieving an annual fundraising goal of $2M+ within 2 years of employment. In so doing, they will secure funds for the organization by fulfilling the interests and passions of donors by providing them with giving opportunities, encouraging them to give and assuring that as many as possible are retained as continuing donors and are upgraded in their giving and involvement.

Pay Range

Minimum $78,987 Midpoint $118,470 Maximum $157,953

Rate of pay is determined by various factors, including but not limited to knowledge, skills, competencies, experience, education, as well as position requirements.

Experience

  • Required: Minimum of five years of experience in fundraising, sales or business development related field.

  • Preferred: Eight or more years of progressive responsibility in fundraising, sales or business development related field with a strong track record, and preferably in a healthcare setting.

Education

  • Required: Bachelor's Degree,.

  • Preferred: Advanced degree or certification by either the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) or the Association for Healthcare Philanthropy (AHP) or other.

Training

  • Required: Strong writing skills.

  • Prefers: Working knowledge of principles and practices of major gift fundraising in a healthcare institution.

Special Skills

  • Required: Able to communicate positively and effectively in person, in writing, and on the telephone; think critically; work independently; manage multiple assignments; compose written material; work well under pressure; problem solve; organize and prioritize workload; recall information with accuracy; pay close attention to detail. High level of energy and creativity. Ability to become acquainted with key donors and build relationships in a short time frame.
