Provides decisional support, organizational planning, and operationalizing leadership for Penn Medicine Transfer Center and Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania patient flow. Oversees bed management and Penn Medicine Transfer Center call center and personnel.
Plans, designs and deploys Hospital Transfer for HUP, PPMC, and PAH and Bed Utilization processes for HUP which closely align and support the changing needs of Penn Medicine and regional hospital patient admissions and transfers.
Constantly maintains awareness of bed placement activities for Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, PPMC, PAH and other entities in order to support effective and efficient placement of patients at all times.
Works with Penn Medicine Clinical Leaders to creates and maintains patient flow algorithms to enhance hospital specific service lines of excellence by directing patients to those programs.
Holds comprehensive responsibility to run a call center that facilitates HUP internal patient transfers and external patient transfers to PAH, PPMC, and HUP
Analyze existing and then formulate and implement a plan to change and make more efficient the processes and procedures for the Transfer Center and Bed Management. Ability to suggest and formulate change in practice through consensus building, work plan development and work to hold accountable the team to execute the change, while clearly utilizing the teams skills at top of their license.
Advance the technology of the Department to effectively and efficiently improve response time of encounters, while improving the clinical data received on patients. The center should be via as an advanced call center so knowledge and ability to introduce new technologies will be paramount to success.
Participates in other special projects as assigned.
Directs activities to facilitate collaborative communications with all referring hospitals and physicians.
