This role is eligible for our hybrid work model: Two days in-office.

From accounting and financial planning to risk/fraud analysis and payments, our Finance team ensures not only our company's financial security, but also that our customers can buy from us with confidence.

Why this job's a big deal:

The Director, Payroll will be responsible for leading our Company's global payroll activities. This individual will oversee the payroll systems environment, lead payroll implementations and integrations and ensure timely and accurate US and global payroll processing and reporting. This role is part of our finance team and reports into the Chief Accounting Officer.

You will have prior experience leading a payroll team in a complex and dynamic environment and will be able to leverage prior US and Global payroll experience. To be successful in this role, you will need to be organized and deadline driven, ensuring recurring assignments are handled on a timely basis while contributing to special cross-functional projects and addressing unusual developments. This position requires a highly motivated professional with strong drive and skillset to lead the payroll team with compliance and improvement initiatives. Lead global payroll operations and partnership with multiple stakeholders to provide support on global payroll related issues.

In this role you will get to:

  • Proactively identify areas of process improvement within global payroll operations and implement solutions to automate and streamline processes to be scalable and drive efficiencies while maintaining strong quality controls.

  • Lead and manage the day-to-day global payroll activities for multiple legal entities ensuring accurate & timely processing in compliance with Company's policies and local tax and labor regulations.

  • Problem solve for Workday to payroll integration issues.

  • Review and approve payroll transactions.

  • Ensure timely filings with appropriate government authorities.

  • Manage, coach, and develop a small, globally dispersed team.

  • Manage year-end payroll activities globally.

  • Partner with cross functional groups within the Company including Equity and People & Culture teams on global equity, global mobility and new business activities to ensure global payroll needs are identified, considered and communicated.

  • Maintain a complete understanding of all US federal/state wage and hour laws related to payroll including 401K, benefits, leave of absence, HSA, FSA, garnishments and taxes.

  • Optimize standard procedures for payroll processing, ensuring strong internal controls and segregation of duties.

  • Create ad-hoc wage and management reports, including workers compensation information. Perform analysis, generate reports and assist the HR/Benefits/401k/Tax and Finance teams as needed.

  • Manage audit processes related to payroll, including SOC1 and 401k. Owner of Payroll SOC1 Controls.

  • Serve as subject matter expert for payroll, payroll taxes and payroll systems for employees and internal partners.

Who you are:

  • 10+ years' work experience managing payroll for multiple entities, multi state and international payroll and taxes. Global Payroll experience with Canada, Germany, UK, India and/or Mexico a plus.

  • Bachelor degree in Finance, Accounting or related discipline

  • Experience with global stock plan payroll processing

  • Willing to "roll-up the sleeves" in order to accomplish all necessary tasks.

  • Experience with ADP Workforce Now, ADP Celergo, Workday HRIS preferred.

  • Ability to lead a team and manage the team's workload in a SOX compliant environment.

  • Experience onboarding new payroll solutions globally.

  • Experience with Executive Payroll Processing.

  • Advanced Excel skills including v-lookups and pivot tables.

  • Excellent understanding of payroll accounting.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to effectively communicate across departments and at all levels.

  • Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to identify issues and propose solutions to complex or non-standard situations.

  • Strong work ethic and ability to be productive and successful in a fast-paced work environment.

  • Ability to handle confidential information in a professional manner.

  • Problem solving and decision-making capacity in a high growth environment.

  • Ability to build and sustain relationships at multiple levels within and outside of finance, as well as with external partners.

There are a variety of factors that go into determining a salary range, including but not limited to external market benchmark data, geographic location, and years of experience sought/required. In addition to a competitive base salary, certain roles may be eligible for an annual bonus and/or equity grant.

The salary range for this position is $145,000-$180,000.
