MTM, Inc. continues to grow and we are seeking a Director, Payroll

The Director, Payroll is a member of the MTM Accounting and Finance team who works to ensure payroll expenses and taxes and paid correctly and on time. They will be responsible for the functionality of the payroll system, Workday, becoming a subject matter expert on the system. The Director, Payroll will organize and oversee any Workday updates and business process efficiencies. Additionally, they will be in charge of following and filing all legal requirements for taxes, audits and other reporting. The Director, Payroll is also responsible for supervision of the Payroll staff.
This position is located at our office in Chesterfield, Missouri.
Manage processing of payroll for multiple companies across multiple states, sometimes involving Unions
Ensure accuracy and timely processing of payroll
Manage, develop and provide continuous coaching to Payroll Associates in order to meet/exceed Accounting performance expectations and goals
Identify additional training opportunities to assist staff in reaching maximum potential
Conduct performance appraisals annually on each direct report
Responsible for approval of staff's time (including PTO) through payroll system
Reconcile all payments made to benefit carriers including medical, dental, life insurance, 401(K), etc.
Ensure timely processing of all payments to the 3rd party benefit providers
Ensure timely completion of monthly payroll audits by Payroll Associates
Manage the accuracy of employee information. This includes ensuring timely processing of employee changes, including but not limited to tax deductions, direct deposit, etc.
Coordinate and manage the 401K audit. This includes coordinating activities with the 3rd party auditor, preparation of the required "Client Prepared Schedules", and completion of all analysis prior to the start of audit field work
Prepare reports containing the necessary information for various workers comp audits
Perform special projects as assigned by management
Review all post-payroll reports generated by the Payroll System
Process all payroll payments as needed outside of the normal payroll schedule
High School Diploma or G.E.D.
Bachelor's Degree preferred, or equivalent work experience
Minimum 8+ years of experience with payroll
3+ years of experience managing direct reports
Intermediate skills with Microsoft Excel, Outlook and Word
Previous experience with Workday is a plus
Payroll Certification required
Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship or visa
