MTM, Inc. continues to grow and we are seeking a Director, Payroll

The Director, Payroll is a member of the MTM Accounting and Finance team who works to ensure payroll expenses and taxes and paid correctly and on time. They will be responsible for the functionality of the payroll system, Workday, becoming a subject matter expert on the system. The Director, Payroll will organize and oversee any Workday updates and business process efficiencies. Additionally, they will be in charge of following and filing all legal requirements for taxes, audits and other reporting. The Director, Payroll is also responsible for supervision of the Payroll staff.

This position is located at our office in Chesterfield, Missouri.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage processing of payroll for multiple companies across multiple states, sometimes involving Unions

  • Ensure accuracy and timely processing of payroll

  • Manage, develop and provide continuous coaching to Payroll Associates in order to meet/exceed Accounting performance expectations and goals

  • Identify additional training opportunities to assist staff in reaching maximum potential

  • Conduct performance appraisals annually on each direct report

  • Responsible for approval of staff's time (including PTO) through payroll system

  • Reconcile all payments made to benefit carriers including medical, dental, life insurance, 401(K), etc.

  • Ensure timely processing of all payments to the 3rd party benefit providers

  • Ensure timely completion of monthly payroll audits by Payroll Associates

  • Manage the accuracy of employee information. This includes ensuring timely processing of employee changes, including but not limited to tax deductions, direct deposit, etc.

  • Coordinate and manage the 401K audit. This includes coordinating activities with the 3rd party auditor, preparation of the required "Client Prepared Schedules", and completion of all analysis prior to the start of audit field work

  • Prepare reports containing the necessary information for various workers comp audits

  • Perform special projects as assigned by management

  • Review all post-payroll reports generated by the Payroll System

  • Process all payroll payments as needed outside of the normal payroll schedule

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred, or equivalent work experience

  • Minimum 8+ years of experience with payroll

  • 3+ years of experience managing direct reports

  • Intermediate skills with Microsoft Excel, Outlook and Word

  • Previous experience with Workday is a plus

  • Payroll Certification required

  • Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship or visa

Responsible for timely and accurate processing of payroll. Job Responsibilities * Assures the accurate and timely payment of wages and salaries o Weekly payroll for union employees. o Bi-weekly payroll for salaried employees. * Work closely with Human Resources, Payroll, Benefits, Accounting and Finance teams to gather and provide information on hours worked, associated costs, etc. * Maintain payroll information working within ADP. * Assist in multi-state payroll processing using ADP. * Understand the processing of garnishments and execute pay orders. * Prepare reports by compiling summaries of earnings, taxes, deductions, leave, disability, and nontaxable wages. * Balance the payroll accounts by resolving payroll discrepancies. * Maintain payroll guidelines by writing and updating policies and procedures * Comply with federal, state, and local legal requirements * Respond promptly and courteously to all payroll inquiries. * Process termination and off-cycle checks as required. * Administer the assignment of pay cards. * Pursue personal development of skills and knowledge necessary for effective performance. * Perform other duties, tasks and responsibilities as assigned.
