Job Summary: The Director-Patient Care Cardiac directs the day-to-day operations and clinical practice of all licensed and unlicensed staff in the Cardiovascular Lab, Cardiac Diagnostic Lab, Pediatric Echocardiology Lab and nursing services in Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation.

Collaborates with the Administrative Director of Cardiology, Executive Director of the International Heart Institute and Medical Director(s) to ensure inpatient and outpatient pediatric and adult populations at multiple sites licensed under Loma Linda University Health (LLUH) receive quality, safe whole person care 24 hours/day, 7 days/week. Develops and maintains collegial, credible and trusting working relationships with cardiology service line and hospital leadership, multiple medical directors, treating physicians and staff on all applicable campuses. Collaboratively establishes systems and processes to meet the demands of cutting-edge cardiology healthcare delivery and customer expectations.

Serves as a key member of the administrative leadership team and participates in strategic planning, budget development, staff and resource allocation. Exhibits in-depth knowledge of all applicable state and federal regulatory standards, ensures compliance with regulations and maintains survey-readiness at all times. Supports and inspires the journey to nursing excellence and achieving and maintaining Magnet Recognition as outlined by the American Nurses Credentialing Center. Performs other duties as needed.

Education and Experience: Master of Science Degree in Nursing required or Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing and a Master of Science Degree in healthcare, finance, or education required.

If hired prior to December 1, 2019, Master's degree may be in progress. Minimum of four years nursing experience in pediatric or adult cardiology or emergency services required. Minimum four years nursing experience which has provided opportunity to demonstrate competencies in leadership, administration, or education required.

Knowledge and Skills: Substantial knowledge of pediatric and adult cardiac treatment and procedures, state and federal healthcare regulations, finance, performance improvement, quality, patient safety, evidenced-based clinical practice standards, medical staff structure and legal aspects of care required.

Knowledge of adult learning principles, management and problem-solving methodologies. Exhibits professional behavior at all times. Able to speak, read and write legibly in English (and Spanish preferred) with professional quality; use computer, printer and software programs necessary to the position, e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, electronic medical record, electronic event reporting program; relate and communicate positively, effectively and professionally with others; be assertive and consistent in following and/or enforcing policies; work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure; lead, supervise, teach and collaborate; accept direction; think critically; use sound judgment based on factual information and clinical knowledge; work independently with minimal supervision; meet deadlines; perform basic math and statistical functions; manage multiple assignments effectively; organize and prioritize workload; problem solve in a proactive and creative manner; recall information with accuracy; pay close attention to detail; hear sufficiently for general conversation in person and on the telephone; identify and distinguish various sounds associated with the work place; see adequately to read computer screens, medical records and written documents necessary to position; exhibit professional behavior at all times.

Licensures and Certifications: Active California Registered Nurse (RN) license required.

American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification required. Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) certification preferred. Other as outlined in the department Plan for Providing Care. Valid driver's license and automobile insurance required at time of hire.
