General Description:The Director of Outreach and Recruitment (DOR) leads a team to develop, support, and execute outreach and recruitment plans that engage Highline's community and meet the needs of the college. The DOR reports to the Dean of Advising and Enrollment Services as a key member of the Advising & Enrollment Services Leadership Team. This role partners with key leads in Entry Advising, Admissions, Running Start, and Financial Aid. It also works closely with the Communications and Marketing Team and across campus with stakeholders such, Prof/Tech programs, High School Re-engagement, ELCAP (English Language, Career & Academic Preparation), BAS (Bachelor of Applied Sciences) programs and Transfer Pathway programs. The DOR is primarily responsible for development and implementation of new student recruitment plans and community outreach. For the team to recruit effectively, they will need to learn and convey critical information about the college, such as the application process, how to become a Highline student, how to access resources to finance college, and information about student support services and the various instructional program offerings.

Given the nature of this role, exceptional customer service and communication skills are paramount. Highline is engaged in developing a long-term strategic enrollment management plan and Outreach and Recruitment will be a critical cornerstone to this plan and alignment with other college programs.

The purpose of outreach is to recruit new students and increase enrollment at Highline College through developing key partnerships in the communities we serve. Our recruitment work actively promotes the value and benefit of higher education to all potential students, including high school populations, non-traditional students, and Latinx and BIPOC populations. The DOR will lead a team that has frequent public contact and requires the ability to communicate with individuals from diverse racial, socioeconomic, and ethnic backgrounds.

This is a full-time exempt position.

Essential Tasks

Reporting to the Dean of Advising & Enrollment Services:

  • Provide leadership, management, and supervision of the Outreach and Recruitment team;

  • Collaborate closely with key departments in student service and academic affairs to coordinate efforts and convert prospective students to enrolled students;

  • Serve as Highline's point of contact for outreach and recruitment efforts in the community;

  • Collaborate with program specific staff at Highline to support and enhance recruitment for their programs;

  • Collaborate to manage and support Highline's Customer Relationship Management (CRM) tool to effectively recruit prospective students to apply to the college;

  • Work closely with Entry Advising and Admissions to ensure prospective students experience a seamless and easy to navigate onboarding process;

  • Plan and execute events on campus and off that contribute to the recruitment and enrollment of prospective students;

  • Build and maintain relationships with key community partners;

  • Support new students (and their families) as they navigate becoming a student at Highline;

  • Execute a goal-oriented and results-driven strategic plan for recruitment;

  • Evaluate the effectiveness of the work, report outcomes, and identify and implement opportunities for continuous improvement;

  • Effectively communicate degree and program offerings;

  • Effectively communicate and assist prospective students in navigating financial aid and scholarship processes;

  • Support recruitment events both on- and off-campus;

  • Assist in preparation of public presentations and be able to deliver information in a way that is appropriate to different audiences;

  • Participate in department and other college meetings;

  • Collaborate with internal and external partners;

  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

  • Excellent verbal and written communications;

  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Marketing, or related field; AND
  • 4 years of marketing, recruitment, strategic planning, or related experience. (Professional experience may substitute for education requirements at the discretion of the College); AND
  • Experience with marginalized populations; refugees, immigrants, low SES (Socio-Economic Status), and BIPOC students; AND
  • Valid driver's license required.

Desired Qualification:

  • Experience with Customer Relations Management (CRM) Software;

  • Experience with student information systems such as AVISO/Watermark or similar and with ctc
