Director of Warehouse Operations
Job Description
The position of Director of Warehouse Operations is a key critical role in supporting our long term business strategies and goals. Responsibilities include leadership of our associate & management teams across the processes of order fulfilment, inventory control, people engagement and development, process enhancements, along with supporting our inbound receiving, systems management and transportation functions. As a member of the RS Americas Director team, this critical role plays a leading part in our transformational change agenda of becoming a true industry benchmark, recognized and trusted for our unrivalled customer experience, operational excellence and the highest standards of quality and employees welfare. All underpinned and delivered through talented and passionate people. This individual will be a role model for servant leadership and embed a culture of continuous improvement and innovation. Responsible for the delivery, compliance and reporting of RS America's Inbound/Outbound warehouse performance, to achieve our OTTP, CoS%, quality, safety and recycling goals, through having the right resources and process in place, to deliver targeted goals.
Reporting Structure
This role will sit within the RS Americas Operations function and report directly to the Snr Director of Distribution & Logistics
The role will have direct reports of the Outbound Mnagaer, Inventory/Quality Manager, Operations BPO, the Operations Training and Development team and a dotted line the Inbound Manager, under our matrix structure. Overall headcount responsibility will range from 150-250 employees

Key deliverables for my role
Responsible for ensuring the efficient management and control of the Warehouse Operation whilst achieving agreed budgetary, service, quality and sustainability levels. Provide an effective and reliable service to customers whilst meeting all legal requirements. Responsible for organising the safe and efficient receipt and storage or picking and dispatching of warehouse materials, to satisfy customer, supplier and business demands.
Spearhead effective communication and translation of our strategic direction to the warehouse teams, and align, create and deliver, tactical activities, to support Operations on this journey and achieving it's KPIs.
Collaborate with executives, peers and colleagues business wide to ensure that operational priorities are aligned to the needs of our customers and business goals.
Represent the company in a professional, enthusiastic and positive manner.
Leadership of the Outbound, Inventory/Quality and Training Warehouse Operations management teams, with overall accountability for delivery performance KPI's, resource planning, employee engagement, process enhancement and talent development.
Instil accountability through a disciplined approach, to ensure progressive actions and improvements are agreed, shared and visible, to support being executed on time for the benefits forecasted.
Plan and coordinate future capacity requirements for resource, supplies and throughput needs.
Ensure all automated systems and processes are delivering the desired outcomes, and are fully understood and being utilized by warehouse teams.
Identify process and systems improvements, drive through recommendations for change using supporting data, by demonstrating the value that can be generated, for appropriate effort.
Ensure policies and procedures for warehouse activities are consistent and evolve, to drive the right behaviours.
Provide a safe working environment, adhering to Health, Safety and Environmental procedures and ensuring they are understood and practiced by the team at all times, through effective reporting practices (near miss/accident recording).
Monitor and maintain high standards of security and consistency, through an effective training program, to ensure that the warehouse is in compliance of company policies and procedures, to reduce risk of any incidents
Ensure a clean and tidy working environment to demonstrate our world class standards, through effective housekeeping ownership, that aligns to our sustainability goals for recycling and energy consumption.

Experience and skills
Essential:
10 years managerial experience within a fast paced, high service distribution or manufacturing facility, across a broad spectrum of operational functions. End-to-end business process knowledge, to enable effective engagement across all departments.
Deep understanding and experience of using Warehouse Management Systems and integrated Automated equipment.
Strong Operational/ People leadership skills, with direct experience of developing talent and building employee engagement.
Highly developed influencing and communication skills, with capability to deliver across a matrix with direct and indirect teams
Effective planning project management skills, ability to problem solve, prioritize actions and deliver step-change performance through others
Must have strong teamwork, organizational, and analytical skills, with a practical knowledge of using presenting and analyzing tools and applications.
Strong work ethic, passion and appetite for change and improvement
Desirable:
Lean Process/ CI qualification and experience
Experience of successfully leading transformational change
Educated to degree level or equivalent within Supply Chain, Distribution or Logistics.
