The Director of Operations will manage the daily operations of the University's NCAA.

Division I Volleyball and Beach Volleyball programs.

Manage the volleyball budgets, annually building off of a zero-based budget, for submission to the Senior Associate Athletics Director for volleyball. Develop budget forecasting and annual reports. Monitor and approve expenditures.

Oversee the hiring, supervising, evaluating, and corrective action for one part time program assistant and a minimum of two part time student employees.

Oversee logistical interactions with student-athletes including official and unofficial recruiting visits and admissions procedures. In collaboration with the ICA Compliance Office, counsel prospects and their parents, incoming athletes, and current athletes, on initial and continuing eligibility regulations. Work closely with compliance staff to ensure all UW Volleyball actions are compliant and complete all required seasonal forms for team practices and competitions.

In coordination with ICA Compliance, develop and manage a comprehensive recruiting program for the volleyball programs. Assist coaching staff to ensure recruiting practices remain innovative and elite.

Plan and direct special events including the team banquets and community service programs. Develop and manage alumni and donor relations for both programs in coordination with ICA Development staff.

Organize annual alumni events, track alumni career developments, and form strong relationships with former players. Serve as liaison to the Tyee Club to facilitate donor events; thank donors for gifts in a timely fashion; form genuine relationships.

In collaboration with the ICA Travel Manager, coordinate travel arrangements including negotiating contracts with hotels, food vendors, transportation arrangements, etc. Oversee support staff in completing additional travel responsibilities.

Propose travel options and itineraries to coaches for approval; confirm travel arrangements for flights, hotels, ground transportation, and meals. Serve as on-site coordinator during team travel.

Responsible for managing the pre-season schedule and game contracts. Assist in the coordination of home competitions and post season events for the both programs. Serve as the tournament director, visiting team and day of game liaison, marketing and promotions liaison, and supervisor of volleyball support staff.

Oversee scheduling of facilities throughout the season for practice, competitions, and clinics, in compliance with NCAA practice and play policies. Create comprehensive team schedules for all program activities and distribute to applicable parties.

Oversee coordination of video operations, statistics, computer and technical support for both programs. Select, train, and support the Video Coordinator in producing scout film and All-American videos.

In collaboration with ICA Academic Services, monitor academic progress. Provide coaches with academic-related logistic help, such as generating class schedules to determine available times for team activities, and assisting with the nomination process for regional and national academic awards.

Set up occasional team meals and provide proper paperwork to business office. Meet annually with ICA nutritionist to develop strong team nutritional programs.

Oversee social media efforts to promote selected priorities; provide live score updates during matches.

Other duties as assigned.

Compliance with the rules and regulations of the University, the NCAA, the Pac-12 Conference, the State of Washington and any other governing body is of paramount importance to the University. The overall responsibility of this position is for the successful operation of the program in full compliance with all such rules and regulations. As a condition of employment, the Employee shall be required to participate in rules education programs offered by the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics.

REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor's degree and two years of work experience in college/professional athletics or related experience.

Must be proficient in computer skills including MS Word, Excel, Publisher and PowerPoint.

Strong organizational and communication skills; demonstrated experience in coordinating office management and professional quality writing skills.

Will require work during evenings and weekends as needed.

DESIRED:

Master's Degree preferred.

Video production and graphic design capabilities desired.

Zonar Engineering teams build, maintain, and operate applications and services on VMs and Kubernetes clusters in a hybrid cloud deployment. You will create and manage the right set of objectives, metrics, and processes that enable those teams to achieve greater operational excellence. You have a deep and relevant technical stack and can provide architectural and financial guidance on how to efficiently run, operate, and observe workloads in cloud and in the datacenter. In this role you will be a significant contributor to future engineering strategy while partnering with the organization to make and drive the right tactical decisions to improve the practice of operations at Zonar. What you will do: * Define short, mid, and long-term cloud production operations strategy and roadmap * Advocate for that strategy with engineers, managers, and executives * Provide guidance, objectives, and metrics and oversight to help teams maintain 24x7 uptime and availability of production mission critical customer facing services * Define and roll out the processes, practices, and tooling that teams will use to meet their service level objectives * Review application and service deployments to ensure that DR requirements have been met * Improve overall system DR capabilities * Oversee cloud and datacenter operational processes across all teams, from change planning to incident management * Define and lead the rollout of new infrastructure initiatives that improve overall system resilience and efficiency * Work across the organization to identify and resolve operational gaps * Manage and optimize cloud service and infrastructure spend * Lead international platform and product operational roll out, working with internal and third-party resources to achieve growth goals and operational stability What you will bring to the team: * Minimum of 5 years of experience managing 24x7 production operations for a high-volume, business-critical cloud service * Excellent organizational and business planning capabilities * Experience with and enthusiasm for operating in an agile DevOps oriented organization and culture * Understanding of the key concepts and practices of Observability, coupled with experience implementing robust systems that leverage metrics, logs, and traces to provide understanding of system state * An inspiring and creative leadership style that inspires and influences others * A technical business acumen that ensures the organization is operating efficiently and effectively in a hybrid environment * The ability to communicate effectively to executives, engineers and customers * The ability to build effective relationships with internal business stakeholders and external partners * Significant experience managing IT vendor relationships * Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent experience * You have managed Kubernetes and VM based workloads in production on premise and in Google or Amazon clouds * You have experience with and understand the benefits and trade-offs of different serverless implementations emerging in public cloud * You have migrated workloads from the datacenter to public cloud * You have developed, deployed, and operated services or full applications via CI pipelines * You have a deep understanding of observability - how to apply best practices around monitoring, alerting, and logging, and have implementation experience with one or more monitoring, alerting, and logging systems * You have built out software platforms to support application suites, and understanding of implementation and operational trade-offs made during the build out process * You have experience/exposure to big data storage and processing clusters, e.g. Hadoop, Cassandra, HBase, Spark ABOUT US Founded in 2001, Zonar has pioneered smart fleet management technology by providing innovative technology that has changed fleet operations in the vocational, pupil and commercial trucking industries.
