Director of Undergraduate Admissions

Reporting to the Vice President for Enrollment Management, Marketing and Communications, the Director of Undergraduate Admissions is a highly visible member of the campus community. They are expected to have a rich understanding of strategic enrollment management best practices, and a high level of initiative and motivation to achieve institutional goals, provide excellent customer service, and enroll qualified students.

The Director of Undergraduate Admissions manages all aspects of the day-to-day operations of the Office of Undergraduate Admissions, including supervision and evaluation of all office personnel. The position also manages prospective student outreach, recruitment, evaluation, admission, and yield.

The Director of Undergraduate Admissions is responsible for achieving all individual and office goals established by the Vice President. They represent the Vice President at meetings and serve as a senior advisor to the Vice President.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Management of Undergraduate Admission Office

  • Oversees all aspects of the day-to-day operations of the Office of Undergraduate Admissions, including new student recruitment, travel and territory assignments, new student recruitment events, campus tour initiatives, vendor relationships, and student financial services collaboration.

  • Supervises and directs the actions, and evaluates the performance, of all office personnel.

  • Promotes a highly relational, customer-service oriented culture.

  • Travels on behalf of the institution for student recruitment and to promote institutional visibility.

  • Meets individual and overall application and enrollment goals as defined by the Vice President for Enrollment Management, Marketing and Communications.

  • Manages and oversees the budget.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Undergraduate Admission Strategy

  • Develops and coordinates the implementation of a strategic recruitment plan for undergraduate enrollment.

  • Works with the Vice President for Enrollment Management, Marketing and Communications to establish strategic, data-driven policies and processes that further the goals of the institution.

  • Participates in institutional planning and policy development regarding enrollment.

  • Provides data-driven guidance for all aspects of student recruitment programs and initiatives, develops reports, and writes executive summaries.

Partnerships and Institutional Leadership

  • Serves on university wide committees as needed/requested.

  • Collaborates with the Financial Aid Office to ensure smooth and coordinated admission and financial aid processes.

  • Collaborates with Marketing and Communications and external vendors on the development of print, digital and social media.

  • Works with other campus and external constituents to promote a seamless recruitment, admission, and enrollment experience for new students.

  • Advances partnerships with school districts, community colleges, community organizations, and other key stakeholders to grow enrollment.

  • Is active in relevant professional societies and organizations which augments Canisius's standing in the broader academic market.

Required Qualifications and Experience:

  • Master's Degree from a regionally accredited or internationally recognized institution of higher learning.

  • Five or more years of work experience in higher education.

  • Five or more years of management experience developing direct reports

  • Outstanding interpersonal relationship building, employee coaching, and development skills.

  • Has a solid grasp of data analytics and performance metrics.

  • Management experience in a team-oriented workplace preferred.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop a department and department staff members.

  • Prior experience working with and contributing to a diverse workplace with the ability to interact effectively with a broad range of constituents on campus.

Compensation and Benefits:

Salary: $80,000.00 to $90,000.00 annually

Please note that the compensation information is a good faith estimate of the base pay for this position. The selected candidate's actual base pay will be based on job-related, non-discriminatory factors including experience. Information about the total compensation package for this position will be provided during the interview process.

This is a full-time, salaried position. Benefits are available the first of the month after the full-time employee's date of hire and include - health, dental and vision insurance, life and long-term disability insurance, and retirement plan enrollment is available to full-time employees with contribution from the University after one year. Paid holidays, vacation, personal leave and sick leave. Tuition benefits are also available for full-time employees and their qualified dependents.
