The Office of Undergraduate Admissions at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, (UTK) invites applications and nominations for our Director of Undergraduate Admissions Application Management and Integrated Systems position. The Position:

This is an on-campus position with some hybrid/remote work schedule flexibility.

The Director of Undergraduate Admissions Application Management and Integrated Systems (Director) will develop, lead, execute, and measure a comprehensive strategy and plan as it relates to Admissions' data management, Slate CRM, and information systems related to prospect, applicant, admitted and enrolled student populations. The Director will develop strategies and business processes that ensure that undergraduate admissions applications (currently 60,000 ), along with supporting materials, are processed, read, and evaluated in an efficient, equitable manner. The Director will consistently be evaluating the applicant pool, monitoring progress toward enrollment goals, providing service to applicants, and adjusting strategies to maximize impact. The Director manages third-party relationships, technical operations, and systems-based application solutions on behalf of Undergraduate Admissions and other admitting centers university wide. The Director provides leadership in the continuous evaluation of system tools and processes, serving as a subject matter expert related to the admissions process and technologies, and in the development of strategies to leverage technology and systems that meet application and admission needs. This position serves as an active member of the Undergraduate Admissions Senior Staff team and reports directly to the Associate Vice Provost for Enrollment Management and Executive Director of Admissions.

Required Education and Experience:

Bachelor's Degree

  • 5 years as an Admission Operational staff member in a large university.

  • Ability to successfully manage multiple competing priorities at one time.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead in a team environment, excellent oral, written and interpersonal problem solving skills.

Preferred Education and Experience:

Master's Degree

  • 10 years as an Undergraduate Admission Operational staff member in a large university.

  • Proven success in evaluation and improvement in Undergraduate Admissions Operational efficiencies and automation of routines.

  • Self-motivated, team attitude and commitment to high standard of excellence.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Advanced skills in Slate processes, rules configuration, CRM Queries and configurable joins in the Slate CRM and reporting tools.

  • Ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to end users, business stakeholders and management both verbally and in writing.

  • Ability to prioritize and organize tasks to meet deadlines and follow through on assignments with minimal direction, often under pressure.

  • Excellent analytical, communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to exercise sound judgment, discretion, and tact with all levels of constituents.

  • Skills of working independently in a changing environment with accuracy and attention to detail.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office tools.

  • Ability to work with large data sets, verifying and checking data thoroughly for accuracy and completeness, and importing and exporting files between software programs.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Demonstrate success in improving admission processes.

  • Expert knowledge of Slate processes, rules configuration, CRM Queries and configurable joins.

  • Demonstrated success in leadership roles in college admissions.

The Enrollment Management (EM) division comprises more than 190 full-time staff who serve our students through the following departments and functions: Undergraduate Admissions, International Recruitment, Transfer Center, One Stop Student Services, Financial Aid and Scholarships, the Center for Financial Wellness, University Registrar, Pre-college Research Excellence Programs, EM Research & Analytics, EM Communications, and EM Operations.
