Position Purpose
Under the general supervision of the Executive Director of Business, Finance, and Operations, to supervise the day-to-day operations of the school system's Transportation department.
Essential Functions
Supervise the day-to-day operations of the school system's transportation department
Develop and implement the department's personnel human resource plan, including recruitment, developing, and retaining staff; evaluating and counseling staff; and providing opportunities for growth and professional development at all levels of the department
Develops and updates bus routes and schedules; makes notifications to those needing to know of updated routes and schedules; coordinates transportation for extracurricular events (sports, field trips, etc.); responds to after hour emergency calls; and operates a school bus in the event of emergency or shortage of drivers
Implements all federal and state laws, State Board of Education rules, and System Board Policy as it pertains to the system's transportation department; compiles and maintains all records required for transportation; enforce all safety standards that conform with federal, state, and insurance regulations
Implements system student discipline policies for transportation and communicates to all stakeholders; and develops plan to report discipline events to the school administration for consequences
Administers transportation budget and ensures that the program is cost-effective and funds are managed wisely; and prepares data necessary to process payroll and attendance monthly
Schedules state inspections yearly; oversees plan for monthly inspections of each bus; keeps records on bus shop orders: and turns in signed invoices for parts and services monthly
Advises Superintendent of inclement weather and/or road hazards; and develop a team and gather information for bus accident investigations
Attend and make presentations at conferences and school board meetings; be a part of professional organizations which provide professional growth in the area of transportation; and maintain good rapport with all transportation stakeholders of the school system
Handle any or other duties assigned by the Superintendent and/or the Assistant Superintendent

Travel Requirements
Travel to school district buildings and professional meetings as required
Physical and Mental Demands, Work Hazards
Work in standard office and school building environments
Drive a school bus when required
Manage a high stress work load that includes supervising multiple employees and multiple routes
Qualifications Profile (Preferred)
Completion of a master's degree or higher in Education Leadership
Minimum of five years' experience in school transportation
Management/administrative experience in transportation or other logistical field
Hold a valid Georgia Vehicle License (Required)
Hold a Georgia Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with air brakes, the Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements
Experience in developing a budget and managing personnel
Proficiency in administrative technology
Knowledge and/or experience using routing systems
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
