The City of Dubuque, Iowa (population 58,000) invites applications for the position of Director of Transportation Services.
The Director of Transportation Services is responsible for ensuring regulatory compliance while collaborating with employees, advisory board members, members of the public, department managers and community organizations to conduct the long-term planning and management of the administrative functions, public facilities, vehicles and employees associated with the provision of transportation-related services, including transit and public parking, in the community including: 82 employees in three collective bargaining units 38 vehicles including 31 public transit, 3 maintenance and 4 shuttle vehicles 7 parking structures 17 surface parking lots 2 semi-public buildings including the Intermodal Facility and the Jule Operations and Training Center The Director serves as the main point of contact for cross-departmental collaboration, community partnership development and process improvement including performance measurement and evaluation.
The Director functions with wide latitude under the supervision of the City Manager.
The Director must have a commitment to equitable access to jobs and community amenities through public transit and must be customer service oriented, openminded and creative.
The ability to bring new ideas, generate new resources and revenues and introduce new and promote existing services is essential.
The successful candidate will possess considerable management experience in the public or private sector that includes oversight of vehicles and facilities and supervision of employees; experience working with and supervising a diverse workforce; graduation from an accredited college or university with a degree in transportation, planning, public administration, economics, business administration or related field; or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the essential knowledge, skills and abilities.
The successful candidate will possess a demonstrated ability to follow a management style that is input oriented and values equity, problem solving and the development of partnerships and a desire to be part of an organization that values service, people, integrity, responsibility, innovation and teamwork.
The City offers an annual salary range of $85,446 to $111,696, and an attractive benefit package.

Loras College invites applications for a full-time position to direct the First Year Experience. The new hire will typically teach four courses in the first-year course sequence and will coordinate all elements of the first year experience including: assessment of student learning in the first year seminars, faculty professional development, the offering of programs for at-risk students, student advising, oversight of the two-course foundational sequence of classes, and registration of first year students. This position will also chair the First Year Experience Committee, collaborate with academic support faculty/staff members, and the Associate Dean of Students to implement programs and services including Orientation, Launch into Loras, the integration of seamless learning into the first year, and the hiring and management of peer mentors. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE. Terminal degree, experience teaching in higher education, and involvement in facilitating first year programming. THE COLLEGE. Founded in 1839, Loras College is a Catholic, four-year, coeducational, liberal arts institution with pre-professional options and dedicated to high academic, ethical, and moral standards. The student body consists of approximately 1,500 students, over 90 percent of whom are full-time undergraduates. THE COMMUNITY. Loras College's 60-acre campus is located on one of Dubuque's highest bluffs, overlooking the Mississippi River at the junction of the states of Iowa, Illinois and Wisconsin, about 3 hours west of Chicago.
