Director of Title IX Compliance

The Cleveland Institute of Art invites applications for the position of Title IX Compliance Officer. Under the supervision of the Vice President of Human Resources, the Title IX Compliance Officer serves as the principal official responsible for coordinating, implementing and overseeing compliance with Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 (Title IX), the Violence Against Women Reauthorization Act (VAWA), Campus SaVe Act, Americans with Disabilities Act/Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 (ADA), the Clery Act, and other assigned federal and or state laws/regulations sexual violence prevention for the Cleveland Institute of Art.

This role is academic year only, working between

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Review, revise, and develop all Institute wide policies and procedures related to Title IX, harassment, discrimination, sexual and gender misconduct, bullying and retaliation.

  • Cultivates relationships and collaborates with a variety of campus partners to ensure Title IX policies are communicated to all constituencies.

  • Provides and/or facilitates educational and training programs regarding Title IX, discrimination and sexual harassment prevention to staff and students

  • Remains knowledgeable of federal and state law and regulations, and trends within higher education related to harassment and other discriminatory practices. Identifies and integrates best practices into knowledge base and practice.

  • Develops, delivers and oversees culturally responsive educational programs for students, faculty, and staff including disseminating educational materials and conducting outreach and training. Organizes and maintains all training and complaint records.

  • Serve as primary resource and subject matter expert for all concerns and questions related to harassment, discrimination, sexual and gender misconduct, bullying, retaliation

  • Serve as intake officer, manage resources, and lead/conduct prompt, thorough, and impartial investigations in response to direct and indirect complaints

  • Ensures a fair, timely, and well-documented investigative process. Maintains accurate and thorough records and notes of investigatory process.

  • Creates comprehensive written investigate reports that clearly identify the issues investigated, identify all relevant college policy, and summarize all relevant evidence.

  • Summarizes case findings in preparation for distribution.

  • Tracks, trends, reports, and addresses systemic problems relating to complaints.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Extensive knowledge with Title IX, Clery Act, FERPA, Affirmative action, equal employment opportunity, the Americans with Disabilities Act, other applicable civil rights and employment laws, regulations and court decisions;

  • Working with diverse academic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds of college students and staff

  • Utilizing computer technology used for communication, data gathering, and reporting.

  • Work collaboratively with others and foster effective working relationships;

  • Maintain confidences and exercise sound judgment and discretion;

  • Design, implement and utilize data gathering and reporting procedures;

  • Work with hostile and emotional individuals in a compassionate, professional and courteous manner;

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Graduation from an accredited four (4) year college or university with a bachelor's degree in higher education administration, human resources, psychology, social work, or a related field.

  • Five (5) years of increasingly responsible experience in developing and administering EEO and/or Title IX programs, including the investigation and resolution of discrimination and sexual harassment claims, preferably in a community college or other higher education setting.

  • Experience in developing and presenting training workshops for faculty, staff, and students.

  • Two to three years' experience in providing career services in a college/university setting or a in a related area.

Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree or JD; Prior experience as a Title IX Coordinator in a higher education setting. Prior experience as a lead investigator and skilled in effective investigation techniques, compiling, analyzing, and reporting statistical data. Familiarity with higher education law and administration; legal training (including paralegal experience or court experience)

Compensation

This is a part-time exempt position. Compensation is commensurate with experience and qualifications. Cleveland Institute of Art offers a benefit package including; vacation, sick, personal time accrual as well as additional time off while the college is closed during winter break; health and dental insurance, life and disability insurance, 403B retirement contribution, tuition remission, free campus parking, and inter-museum council discounts.
