Oversee the day-to-day operational management of the center and foster interdisciplinary collaborations across the College and externally to develop exceptional programs and services that foster academic excellence in pursuit of the trust, growth in virtue, and service of God and neighbor.

Essential Duties:

  • Create a vibrant, collaborate, diverse, and welcoming Center that fosters a Christ-centered beloved community focused on the integration of healthcare with the humanities in support of the College mission. Provide leadership for the development of the Center and oversee its administrative functions. Oversee internal and external communications and marketing including print, web, and social media offered in collaboration with Marketing & Communication, Academic Affairs, and Media Services. Chair the Center's Advisory Committee and organize its activities including hosting regular meetings to solicit input, ideas, and feedback. In collaboration with Institutional Advancement, actively pursue fundraising opportunities including government, foundation, religious, and other not-for-profits, private businesses and corporations, and individual donor opportunities.

  • Support faculty of the School of Nursing and Health Sciences and others across campus to effectively incorporate the College and Center's Catholic Mission into their courses and educational practices. Liaise with departments, offices, and individuals on campus and develop local, national, and international collaborative relationships with hospitals, healthcare providers, clinics, community health centers, and others to enact the mission of the Center. Identify and pursue new curricular and co-curricular opportunities, including courses and course modules, seminars, and a breadth of experiential learning activities related to healthcare, ethics, and the humanities. Develop extracurricular opportunities that support the mission of the Center including guest speakers, conferences, campus publications, retreats, discussion groups, mentorships, immersive global and intercultural experiences, etc.

  • The Director will be expected to teach 9 credits per academic year. Participate in course design and management, including team teaching when appropriate. Collaborate with faculty to develop and teach selected courses or modules related to understanding the Catholic moral tradition in relation to healthcare.

Marginal Duties:

  • Perform all other duties as may be required.

Education and Experience Required

  • Master's degree in the humanities or related field with qualifications and expertise in health and healthcare, ethics, or related fields from an accredited institution required. PhD preferred.

  • Seven to ten years' experience in higher education, including classroom teaching or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the Catholic principles and values bearing on the study and practice of healthcare.

  • Ability to work in an interdisciplinary and campus-wide collaborative setting.

  • Regular engagement with national and international healthcare initiatives.

  • Strong planning and organizational skills.

  • Strong interpersonal and diplomatic skills.

  • Facility with public speaking and event hosting.

  • Facility with document creation and web editing.

  • Strong written communication skills.

  • Ability to teach in an interdisciplinary college setting.

  • Evidence of strong leadership, communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.

Employee Status Full Time Salary Grade 22 (Min. $87,948/Mid. $114,332/Max. $140,716) Salary Information

Employees are normally hired between the minimum and the midpoint of a position's grade range to which a position has been assigned, depending on experience and qualifications.
