Director of the Langenheim Memorial Library
The Department of Academic Affairs of Thiel College, Greenville, PA, is seeking a Director of the Langenheim Memorial Library. We seek a strong leader for this full-time staff position, committed to the values of a liberal arts education and Thiel College's Mission to prepare students for careers and lives of meaning and purpose.
This position presents an excellent opportunity for a librarian who wants to transition to a hands-on administrative role. The library has a history of working collegially with faculty and staff and providing dedicated support to students. The college is looking for a dynamic library director to revitalize the library's collections, services, and infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
Implementing a forward-looking vision for the library as one of the foundations of student success at the college
Managing the budget to grow collections while exhibiting fiscal responsibility
Evaluating current library services and implementing new strategies where appropriate
Continuing to forge strong relationships with faculty, staff, students, and the surrounding community
Supervising a staff of one full-time employee, one part-time employee, ten student workers, and one volunteer alumnus
Overseeing a planned renovation project to include a space for the college archives
Serving on campus committees and acting as the library's liaison to Admissions, Senior Administration, and the Board of Trustees
Required Qualifications
Master's degree in Library Science from an ALA-accredited library program
At least five years' experience working in a library
Demonstrable record of effective communication and collaboration
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working in an academic library
Management or supervisory experience
Knowledge of best practices for archives
Experience with grant writing
