Director Of The Center For Entrepreneurship / Lecturer Of Business

The University of Texas Permian Basin's College of Business welcomes applications for a non-tenure track, full-time teaching position as a Lecturer in Business in the areas of Entrepreneurship, Business, Management, and additional undergraduate areas in the college to begin August 2023. This role includes administrative responsibilities as the Director of the Roden Center for Entrepreneurship (endowment funded).

Salary Range

$70,000.00 depending on qualifications

Essential Functions

We seek individuals with a passion for teaching and a desire to engage students in the classroom. Also, this individual will serve as the Director of the Roden Center and lead training events for the Midland Entrepreneurial Challenge.

Undergraduate classes on campus in the college typically range from 12-30 students. The University sponsors a range of developmental activities for faculty, supported by the Heimmermann Center for Engaged Teaching. Although this is a full-time teaching and program administration position, candidates are welcome to further their research by utilizing the College of Business's excellent facilities and computational resources.

Duties and responsibilities for the Director of the Roden Center, with year-round obligations, include:

1.Engage with and cooperate in entrepreneurship initiatives with Small Business Development Center, the Blackstone Launchpad, Midland Entrepreneurial Challenge, and the Office of Innovation and Commercialization

2.Sponsor student service-learning activities of the College of Business and other participants on campus, including serving as faculty advisor for the UTPB Enactus Student Team

Official duties and responsibilities of faculty members include teaching and service activities as assigned.

1.Non-tenure track, full-time teaching position on a 9-month contract.

2.Maintain AACSB faculty qualifications by UTPB standards through sustained professional and/or research engagement activities.

3.Lecturers are expected to teach undergraduate courses.

4.Face-to-face and online teaching interactions through a regular schedule of attendance on campus for a minimum of four days a week.

5.Teach 18 - 24 credit hours per contract year.

6.Assist in collecting assessment data as outlined by the college (for SACSCOC and AACSB accreditations).

7.Achieve appropriate student-learning outcomes in all courses taught.

8.Faculty are expected to employ sound pedagogical practices and use appropriate technology.

9.Student course evaluations are to be completed in each course.

10.Abide by deadlines and processes for submitting grades.

11.Advise students and provide individual help to students during weekly office hours.

12.Participate in course revisions and curriculum development, as assigned.

13.Work with other faculty and staff to advance the program.

14.Attend department, college, and university faculty meetings.

15.Attend convocations, commencement exercises, recruitment activities, and community meetings.

Required Qualifications

1.Masters degree in Business Administration or a business discipline.

2.Instructional / Scholarly Practitioner (five years of industry experience or three years of industry experience holding a professional certification) or Scholarly / Practice Academic (terminal degree in a field related to teaching area and qualifying activities) status by the standards of the University of Texas Permian Basin College of Business.

3.Ability to teach courses in the following areas: Entrepreneurship and General Business.

Preferred Qualifications

1.Doctorate in a business discipline (for appointment as Senior Lecturer).

2.College-level teaching experience, which may include teaching as a graduate student.

3.Experience with students' academic mentoring.

4.Entrepreneurial experience (business startup) over five or more years.

5.Demonstrated work history providing evidence of excellent written and oral communication skills.

The College of Business offers the following AACSB-accredited programs: BBA in Accounting, Finance, Energy Land Management, Management, and Marketing; Master in Business Administration, Master of Professional Accountancy, MS in Finance, and MS in Energy Business.

The College enrolls about 2000 students and has twenty-one full-time faculty members. The College is home to the Roden Center for Entrepreneurship and the Center for Energy Industry Analysis. Schedule

Generally, the normal work hours for the university are Monday through Thursday, 7:30 - 5:30 pm; Friday, 8:00 am - 12:00 pm with a one-hour lunch. The individual holding this position may need to be available early morning, evening, and on weekends to meet the needs of the department. Faculty hours may differ based on class schedule and department need.

Standard Working Conditions

1.Able to lift various materials up to 25 pounds on an occasional basis.

2.Able to bend, crouch, and reach continuously.

3.Physically able remain seated, frequently to continuously.

4.Able to remain standing up to 15% of the time.

5.Possesses dexterity abilities required to perform job duties including extensive keyboard work, operating office equipment, performing filing, and other job-related responsibilities that include extensive wrist and hand movement.

6.Standard working conditions may differ depending on department and occupation.
