SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES

Manages the global supervision of the technology engineering organization including the continuous development of the organization and skill sets, strategy development, new product pipeline development, technology portfolio management for new and existing products and processes, managing technical customer interfaces and all product, technology development technical services activities for the Surface Protection business unit. Drive development to innovate competitive advantage product and application solutions for all global geographies.

Provide strategic technical leadership for the SP Business Team by participating in business teams, customer meetings, marketing teams and functional activities providing relevant technical input regarding technology trends, product competitiveness, freedom to practice, and other matters of strategic importance. Create an innovative work culture where the speed of innovation is consistent with the market needs, while keeping under control the cost of the structure. Cooperate with U the other business units' technical department and Operations to guarantee information sharing and a homogeneous company development. As a member of the Surface Protection BU Leadership Team, drive the long-term profitability, growth and market leadership of the business.

Responsibilities/Duties include the following:

  • Technical Leadership: Develop a world class technology engineering organization to support the strategic initiatives and long term competitiveness of Surface Protection.

    Develop a robust innovation pipeline and increase the new product vitality for Surface Protection, including new game changing technologies. Develop and manage the technology and IP portfolio. Work closely with the BU to drive down the costs of our products.

    Keep ahead of new technologies, customer needs and competitive activities to proactively stay ahead in the market. Collaborate with Product and Technology Development Groups, Marketing, Sales, Global Commercialization and Engineering, Manufacturing, and the Customer to plan and execute a business prioritized portfolio of product breakthrough products and application technology projects which result in innovative TFP product leadership at the SP Business Unit Un Customer. Manage customer focused joint development or research programs. Build the critical skill sets and technical competencies of the technical engineering functions for the Business Unit.

  • Business Leadership: Create and manage income growth focused business processes for assessment of product and competitive technology trends in business markets, for translation of customer needs to product requirements, for screening ideas for project initiation, and for executing the New Product Development process.

    Manage the Development budget. As a member of the SP leadership team, drive the culture, communications, and processes to ensure SP's leadership in the industry. Break down functional silos and drive 'external/customer forward' approach to the business. Be accountable for meeting the financial commitments of the Business Unit.

  • Organizational Leadership: Staff the Surface Protection Development resources with appropriate, talented, diverse people.

    Build productive capacity of group and create an innovative culture based on truly global mindset. Set as a priority the revision of the Development process in order to drastically increase the speed and to reduce the cost. Encourage external networking for idea generation.

  • Customer and Supplier Relations: Develop excellent, global relationships with customer technology organizations.

    Assist in the generation and following of customer and supplier relationship management strategies. Maintain open communications with customers and suppliers. Build compelling supplier strategies to leverage their strengths and look for improved raw materials.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • BS or MS degree in Polymer or Material Science, Chemistry or Chemical Engineering.
  • 7-15 years in product research and development with at least 5-7 years in leadership roles. Substantial accomplishment history including achievement of stretch goals.

    Substantial innovation history as demonstrated by patent record. Project Management. Competitive evaluation.

    Ability to translate between business & technology needs. Strong record of customer interfaces or joint developments.

Job Overview: The Asset Protection Detective's primary responsibility is to prevent the loss of company property while maintaining a safe business environment. Support store's efforts in providing the best customer service within a controlled environment so as to ensure maximum sales at the highest profit rate attainable. Under general supervision and established procedures, the Asset Protection Detective detects and apprehends shoplifters and dishonest employees. Macy's uses a scheduling plan that allows our associates to participate in the creation of their work schedules by managing availability and identifying preferences. Additionally, during key events and peak selling times, Macy's may offer additional shifts to our associates, which they may pick up using the self-scheduling tool. Essential Functions: * Respond to customer and associate incidents to facilitate first aid and minimize company liability * Recover stolen merchandise and apprehend shoplifters and other people who commit fraud or other criminal acts against the company * Investigate criminal violations against the person or property of any customer or associate that is committed on company premises * Prepare prompt and complete reports relative to all theft incidents, merchandise recoveries, accident investigations, audits, and other activities as assigned by the Asset Protection Manager * Have knowledge of and maintain strict compliance with the law and company policies concerning apprehensions, searches and seizures, and the preservation of evidence * Promote shortage awareness and theft deterrence among associates by conducting meetings and participating in training events * Successfully complete all Asset Protection training requirements including CPR and First Aid and maintain personal certifications as required by law * Conduct audits to ensure sales department compliance to merchandise exposure standards and asset protection policies * Testify in court concerning any case, criminal or civil, wherein the company is a party of interest to which the Asset Protection Store Detective is summoned * Works on special assignments, investigations, and surveillance as directed by Store Asset Protection Manager * Responds to alarm conditions at assigned store * Perform other duties as necessary * Follow shortage programs and procedures * Perform these functions in an efficient manner, as directed by the Supervisor * Regular, dependable attendance and punctuality Qualifications: Education/Experience: * High School Diploma or equivalent. Some college is desirable. * Completion of Store Detective Training program required upon assignment to position. Communication Skills: * Excellent written and verbal communication skills. * Ability to interpret instructional documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Mathematical Skills: * Basic math functions such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. * Able to use a calculator. Reasoning Ability: * Self-starter, able to work independently and as part of a team and must have good time management skills.
