Duties
Job Description: To administer and manage the district network services including servers, backups, security, and infrastructure. Provides high-level support for staff, students, databases, and client systems.
Essential Functions and Performance Responsibilities: (These are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work performed. The omission of specific duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment to the position.)
Works closely with Business Manager to develop and implement a technology landscape that serves the district's learning community.
Installs, configures, and maintains all district servers and information systems including backup, security patches, and repairs as necessary.
Provides necessary network infrastructure and fosters good relationships with vendors and service groups.
Monitors network traffic and bandwidth utilization. Implements controls to achieve optimization and efficiency and creates reports to the Business Manager.
Creates and maintains a backup system for all servers and information systems. Develops and implements a redundancy plan to ensure network up time.
Troubleshoots and problem-solves any network issues that arise.
Develops and maintains a set of standard computer images that meet the software needs of each building or building sub-group. Setup and oversee the deployment of computer images.
Manages user authentication and client permissions via technologies such as; Active Directory.
Provides help desk support and higher-level troubleshooting on major technology problems across the district. Devises solutions to address major technology problems and establishes district-wide protocols and procedures for workstation and network equipment.
Maintains a current mobile device management (MDM) system for student devices throughout the district.
Creates and maintains network documentation for the district such as topology map, inventories, network equipment configurations and the like.
Plans a replacement and maintenance cycle for all server and network equipment.
Works closely with the Business Manager to coordinate the installation or modification of network infrastructure, electrical, and data/voice wiring in the district.
Coordinates, maintains, and monitors the various equipment and systems in the district including firewall, content filter, email, file storage, network services (DHCP, DNS, VPN), wireless network, backup system.
Facilitates and develops the district's web presence and systems.
Assists in data mining, reporting, customizing and other high-level development of the district's student information system and other district databases.
Management of security systems: building access, security cameras, and employee ID's.
Ability to manage and maintain a technology work order system.
Maintains an in-depth knowledge of technology, equipment and/or systems; participates in technical training as appropriate and approved by Business Manager including but not limited to the following areas:
PC operating systems
AVAYA phone system
District e-mail, file, and student information system
Web server and secure ftp
Security for local clients and networks including virus protection, SPAM, spyware, filtering, and firewalls
Networking knowledge including:
Redundancy and backup systems
Enterprise servers and equipment
General issues of educational technology
Current technologies
Performs such tasks and duties as assigned by the Business Manager.
Other essential duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications
A combination of experience in network/server management and relevant industry certification (Cisco, Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Software, Google Apps for Education).
