POSITION: Director of Teaching and Learning
LOCATION: District Administration Office
REPORTS TO: Deputy Superintendent and Chief Academic Officer
Qualifications:
Must hold or be eligible for State of Delaware Certification as Central Office Personnel
Master's degree (as required by certification)
Minimum 5 years of administrative experience
Working knowledge of laws, regulation and practices related to Delaware's public education system
Demonstrated knowledge of curriculum development and best practice
Knowledge and experience in program development and evaluation
Experience with restructuring of schools preferred
Experience as a building administrator preferred

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES :
Supervise Building Level Leadership
Provide leadership in developing curriculum and programs
Provide horizontal and vertical alignment of programs and services
Ensure equitable access to programs and services for all students
Provide support and coordination for all curricular areas
Assist in developing strategies to increase and expand the proportion of students who access the rigorous and challenging curricula
Assist school sites in assessing, implementing, and evaluating programs and curricula
Supervise assigned personnel
Facilitate and coordinate innovative strategies for connecting and integrating curricula
Organize and facilitate regular and ongoing communications with parents and community members
Keep informed of and disseminate information to building staff regarding instructional trends
Identify programs that require funds outside District sources and provide the leadership and preparation of the proposals
Ensure the articulation of the instructional programs between the elementary, middle and high schools
Assist in policy and regulations development related to curriculum and instruction
Develop educational goals and objectives for curriculum and instruction
Chair committee to develop instruments for implementation of committees' work (i.e., report cards, record keeping, textbook selection, and promotion policy)
Develop and use curriculum and instructional models to implement plans and programs for improving instruction
Cooperate with other administrative staff to plan and implement programs for instructional personnel
Assist in the development and coordination of District staff development programs
Plan and implement a program of educational quality control which will continually monitor, evaluate, and report on the educational program and achievement of students
Establish administrative procedures relative to curriculum and instruction
Evaluate the effectiveness of the instructional program as it relates to student achievement and the District's Strategic Plan
Provide guidelines for the selection of instructional materials for use in the District
Work collaboratively with the Delaware Department of Education on initiatives and development activities
Assist in the dissemination of information on curriculum and instruction throughout the community
Direct program implementation and evaluation including operational guidelines, curriculum implementation, and staff development
Collaborate with school improvement teams to analyze data and to develop and implement leadership priority plans
Assist with development and implementation of the Consolidated Grant
Participate in the development of the local application for federal and discretionary funds
Respond to appropriate State requests for proposals for funds.
Handle administrative complaints
Submit timely and accurate data to DOE
Serves as the system liaison with other agencies and parent groups
Perform such other tasks and assume other responsibilities as may be assigned.
