Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in higher education, college student affairs administration, or a related field.

  • Minimum of five to eight (5-8) years full-time facilities management, operations, or related experience in a higher education setting, with broad and progressive responsibility.

  • History with supervision, budgets, strategic planning and assessment.

  • Facilities management, Union management, and operations experience.

  • Professional background in student affairs within a large, complex university.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Associate Dean of Students, the Director of Tate Student Center at the University of Georgia is responsible for the operational management and supervision of the facilities, personnel, and budgets associated with the Tate Student Center. This includes direct oversight of Campus Reservations, Events and Technical Services (CRETS), Facilities, UGA OneCard Office, and Tate Print & Copy. The position entails significant responsibilities to provide a safe and welcoming space for students through entertaining and educational programs, efficient and courteous customer service, and opportunities for students to learn and develop. Finally, this position is responsible for leading an operation in which students can connect, engage, and thrive.

  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders: students, parents, administrators, alumni, and potential donors.

  • Possess excellent management, human relations, and problem-solving skills with a thorough understanding of facilities management in a higher education setting.

  • Ability to provide leadership of a comprehensive student employment program with a learning-based developmental philosophy.

  • Ability to work before and after regular institutional office hours to maximize contact and availability to students.

Unit Oversight & Staff Supervision:

  • Provide direction and oversight for all operations of the Tate Student Center, including designated programs (UGAOneCard, Print & Copy Service, Campus Reservations, Events & Technical Services, Facilities & Operations, Ticket Operations) and the facilities management (Memorial Hall, Legion Pool, UGA Chapel, Phi Kappa Hall, Quarters A, and Legion Field).

  • Directly supervise four staff members in their work supervising over 40 full-time employees, and approximately 120 part-time student employees.

  • Collaborates with Associate Dean of Students to manage the workload of one Administrative Assistant.

  • Create and facilitate a robust professional development and improvement program for departments and units within area of responsibility.

  • Actively participate in and promote the engagement, development and retention of each staff member.

Percentage of time 50 Duties/Responsibilities

Financial and Operational Leadership:

  • Provide leadership in the management of multi-million-dollar annual budget, including student activity fee-allocated, state-allocated, foundation funds, and income-generating accounts.

  • Manage internal fiscal controls through the development of policies and procedures to ensure sound financial records, reports, and audit capabilities.

  • Provide leadership in planning, implementing, coordinating, interpreting, and evaluating goals, policies, programs, and budgets, balancing attention to programmatic and operational responsibilities.

  • Partner with Campus Constituents to ensure successful operation of the Tate Student Center (including but not limited to the Facilities Management Division, Office of Legal Affairs, Office of Instruction, Career Center, Special Events, Emergency Preparedness, UGAPD, Dining Services, Athletics, Parking Services, and Auxiliary Services).

  • Conduct assessments that document progress in achieving goals, objectives, and intended outcomes.

  • Review and approve all informational material, including digital engagement, distributed by the Tate Student Center.

Percentage of time 40 Duties/Responsibilities

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a member of the University's Freedom of Expression Team.

  • Serve on various Division of Student Affairs and University-wide committees.

  • Ensure areas of responsibility are an integral part of the Division of Student Affairs through cooperation with other Student Affairs departments and University divisions in promoting learning and meeting the needs of students.

  • Perform related work as needed and other duties as assigned.
