Job Overview

TE Connectivity's Continuous Improvement Teams design and implement programs and projects to improve products, services, or processes aligned with business strategies. They coach teams; establish program performance metrics; and establish process excellence supports.


  • Scope: The supply chain professional population by site, region, BU, segment and sub category (i.e. master schedulers, planners)

  • Develop success profile, define and refine specifics competencies needed to achieve success across BU's

  • Build talent/capability heat maps for the global organization using the success profile as a baseline

  • Scope and develop training to enable success and lead training activities across the enterprise

  • Identify and communicate TE and industry best practices

  • Partner with other TEOA communities to understand key linkages and assure alignment (Operations, S&OP, Demand Management (from Product Management & Sales), Finance, Customer Care and Procurement)

  • Develop the TEOA path for supply chain building on best practice benchmarking (Standard work, Star Level requirements for tools and metrics)

  • Implement TEOA for supply chain with BU's, directly supporting with TEOA tool assessments and validations.

  • Report out supply chain progress and key projects to executive management and obtain sponsorship from the Global Operations Council.

  • Travel extensively (50-60%) to support BU's with evaluations, training, mentoring, road mapping, TEOA auditing and planning

  • Form and chair a supply chain planning council to create a sustainable planning community that drives enterprise improvement (develop the vision/mission, develop the aspirational goals, develop the council roadmap for improvements by rolling 4 quarters [people, process, infrastructure], develop and manage supply chain talent across the enterprise, review and support IT systems initiatives that addresses enterprise solutions, and coordinate enterprise wide training initiatives and rotational programs).

Candidate Profile

The successful candidate will be a "change agent" with an extensive background in supply chain planning / scheduling and continuous improvement. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of seven years of experience, ideally including cross functional and cross business unit experience. The candidate must be able to demonstrate previous success implementing sustainable supply chain planning process improvement in a complex, global, matrix organization where functional responsibilities are distributed across multiple business organizations. It is essential that the successful candidate demonstrates strategic thinking, is grounded in execution and has a strong customer focus in everything he/she does.

This individual will be an exceptional team player with the attributes of a mentor or teacher who can develop and build a performance-oriented organization. He/she will have solid executive presence and exceptional communications skills. Exceptionally strong drive, sense of urgency, energy level and problem-solving abilities will be critical for his/her success. The ability to work across all disciplines and throughout all levels of an organization in a persuasive and credible manner is a must and will enable effective interfacing with customers, suppliers, partners, distributors and internal peers. In addition to a career track of significant accomplishments, the successful candidate is expected to have strong academic credentials. A B.S. or M.S. in a relevant discipline is required and a M.B.A. is a bonus.

The responsibilities of this job include assisting with medical equipment service contracts and the procurement of medical equipment parts, resolve purchase order and billing exceptions, and work with bio-medical staff to source unusual parts when needed. Purpose: The Supply Chain Analyst will identify and enact initiatives to reduce UPMC's costs of goods and services, and increase use and compliance of preferred vendors and programs. Individual will support and assist with development and implementation of supply chain initiatives that reduce UPMC's purchase and operational cost, and improve service levels. Facilitate assigned cross-functional teams towards implementation of supply chain objectives. Leverage corporate spending through the structured sourcing and competitive bid processes on projects with lower risk and complexity. Limit UPMC liabilities by implementing corporate agreements for products and services. Responsibilities: * Cooperates and communicates in an effective, professional manner with management, peers, general staff, physicians, and other personnel * As directed, may be required to develop and draft Request For Information (RFI's) and Request for Proposals (RFP's) by assisting the Sourcing staff throughout the sourcing process * Provides other assistance as requested, including the support of analyses by a supply chain Manager or Director. * Supports the execution of supply chain initiatives and coordinates with materials management, users, and others as required. * Participates on cross functional teams to support business objectives. * Participates in periodic business reviews with major agreements focused on level of service being provided and actions to optimize contractual relationships; and amend agreements as necessary. * Maintains a working knowledge of current industry trends and product/service development through participation in professional associations and related professional publications. * Develops proficiencies in data collection through various reporting tools and accurately compile and organize data to support supply chain initiatives.Maintains a working knowledge of systems used to support processes for data collection and analysis. * Monitors and analyzes existing contracts. Reviews volumes/levels/compliance for opportunities for future negotiations, and perform audits to validate pricing using various decision support tools within the department. Identifies and understands spending outside of agreements and develops action plan(s) to address. * Respects and maintains the confidentiality of all patient, physician, and hospital related information. * This position reports to the Sr. Clinical Engineering Program Director. * Assists in the procurement of medical equipment parts * Assists in the resolution of PO and billing exceptions * Works with the Biomedical Engineering staff to source unusual parts when needed Qualifications * Bachelor's Degree and 2 years of supply chain experience, OR High School Diploma and minimum of 5 years supply chain experience will be considered for exceptional performers. * Experience as a Buyer I, Buyer II or Quality Assurance Specialist preferred. * Need to demonstrate strong organization/communication skills, ability to provide exceptional customer service, financial and cost analyses, complex analytical skills, presentation skills, and be a self-starter and work well as a member of a team * Working knowledge of PeopleSoft and Microsoft office is preferred. * Travel between UPMC sites and use of personal vehicle may be required. * Knowledge of medical equipment preferred. * Familiarity with Microsoft Office products preferred.
