Job Summary

The Director of Student-Athlete Support Services reports directly to the Assoc. Athletic Director for Student-Athlete Support Services and will be responsible for all learning skills programming and initiatives for the NCAA Division I student-athletes at Radford University. Oversight of academic advising and assistance to student athletes in the areas of course selection, registration procedures, degree requirements, career planning, University resources and other related topics associated with academic performance and overall student development for their assigned teams.

In addition, this position will assist the Athletics Compliance office with providing education of rules, review and update policies and procedures, and monitor various athletics program activities as needed to ensure integrity with all NCAA, Big South, and Radford University rules and regulations.

Required Qualifications

An advanced degree or training, education and experience that equates to an advanced degree is required. Excellent interpersonal skills with proven ability to relate well with diverse students, faculty and staff.

Strong organizational skills with attention to detail. Effective written and oral communication skills. Ability to work independently without direct supervision. Experience in tutoring or developmental education with knowledge of different learning styles.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working with student-athletes in higher education. Knowledge of NCAA rules relating to academic and eligibility standards preferred with knowledge of and experience using the LSDBI system for NCAA initial eligibility desired. Prior experience in supervising the SAAC organization a plus.
