Position Title Director of Student Activities Announcement Summary

Fayetteville Technical Community College is recruiting for a new member to join our Student Services Team and now accepting applications for a full-time Director of Student Activities!

The ideal candidate will have the ability to effectively work in a fast-paced environment, plan, coordinate, and organize student activities and events. Provide administrative oversight and resource support to the Student Government Association. Assist students from curriculum and continuing education programs develop a sense of belonging on the FTCC Campus by helping connect them to the myriads of resources available to enhance student success. Support student clubs and club advisors and ensure quarterly club reports are provided in a timely manner and reflect accuracy in the reported data. Coordinate with vendors for periodic student events, follow the College's procurement process for vendor contracting. Monitor the Student Services public areas, including the student game room, and make corrective actions, as necessary. Provide highly responsible budget management and administrative staff support to the Associate Vice President for Student Services.

Duties

Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Provide leadership and support to plan, implement, and evaluate student activities and events for all students to enhance the student experience and improve successful outcomes.

  • Oversight of Student Government leaders and supervision over students and clerical staff.

  • Collect and account for collected funds from game admissions, budget disbursements, and ticket sales.

  • Assist College recruiters and event sponsors with table set-ups and other venue requirements, at community events, recruiting sessions, and orientations for new students, expanding interest in future attendance to FTCC sponsored events, games, student events, and related activities.

  • Coordinate with housekeeping, facilities, and security for day, evening, and/or weekend events.

  • Assist with the coordination of annual graduation ceremonies, open houses, orientations, and any student services event.

  • Develop an annual action plan designed to increase curriculum and continuing education student participation in scheduled events hosted on or off-campus.

  • Meet with faculty, staff, and administrators to encourage increased levels of involvement in student activity programs and attendance to student related events. Serve as a resource person to faculty, staff, and students desiring to establish new clubs and/or expand events and community related activities of existing clubs and/or programs.

  • Attend student club meetings on a quarterly basis and promote student attendance to those meetings.

  • Promote a positive college experience for students through events and activities to include curriculum and continuing education students.

  • Disseminate information to students, faculty, and staff promoting a collaborative campus climate.

  • Provide advice, counseling, and intervention when necessary to insure student success and continued compliance with College's code of conduct.

  • Provide support and assistance to student club advisors and officers and maintain an up-to-date Club Advisors Handbook.

  • Maintain open communication and exchange of ideas and information with students, faculty, and staff.

  • Coordinate with Student Government Association members to meet and greet new students providing a strong welcome on the first day of classes.

  • Assist faculty with efforts to promote student success and retention.

  • Serve on a variety of institutional and ad hoc committees and task forces; research and develop recommendations to continually expand school spirit among faculty, staff, and students.

  • Facilitate communication through Civitas and other platforms to connect students with and inform them about events and resources available to assist with student success.

  • Perform related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

A Master's degree from an accredited college or university, and four years of experience in support of student activities, events, and/or student development.
