GENERAL INFORMATION

Title: Director of Strategic Initiatives for Students and Staff

Department: Strategic Initiatives for Students, Staff, and Communications

Reports to: Directly reports to the Superintendent

Evaluation: Evaluated by the Superintendent

Primary Function

This position's main responsibilities include supporting the District's strategic planning for staff and student initiatives and advising the Superintendent and other administrators on effective communication tactics.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Possess a Professional Educator License (PEL) with General Administrative or Principal Endorsement and the completion of the Teacher Evaluation Modules.

  • Experience in Public Administration, Organizational Development, Communications, or related field.

  • Minimum of three to five years of successful administrative and leadership experience in the area of public schools.

  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions in a manner consistent with district vision, mission, and goals.

  • Excellence in communication skills, written and verbal with demonstrated attention to detail.

  • Understanding the technology within a public school district.

  • Experience in supervising and evaluating employees.

  • Strong interpersonal skills.

  • Access to a vehicle for travel to school buildings as needed.

  • Valid driver's license and vehicle insurance.

  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

Performance Responsibilities

  • Work with the Superintendent to develop an outline for the Districts Strategic Plan.

  • Visual communications to support district projects for all Stakeholders.

  • Plans and creates written drafts regarding topics authorized by the Superintendent for review.

  • Design and develop visual communication materials for district programming regarding communication with community stakeholders.

  • Form development, electronic and/or print, on recommendations of the Superintendent.

  • Development of eResources portal for the dissemination of district policies and procedures for staff access.

  • Provide program/project management organizations, structures, and timelines for execution by departments in the implementation of the development of institute days, professional development days, early release days, district assessments, and student data.

  • Develop processes and recommends changes to incorporate technology as appropriate into administrative, marketing, and educational improvements.

  • Identifies service improvement opportunities that will better enable programs/projects to achieve school improvement objectives for the Districts' schools.

  • Manages district presentations and websites.

  • Assumes other responsibilities as may be assigned by the Superintendent.

  • Guides school publications in paper and electronic formats.

  • Designs layouts for District forms and other printed and electronic materials.

  • Guides administration and staff members in the preparation of publications and printed material.

Work Environment

The employee shall possess exemplary oral and written communication skills, interpersonal skills, and the ability to work well with others. The employee shall be proficient with technological aspects of the position, including computing software and hardware, as well as video and camera equipment and software. The employee shall use board approved resources and technology. While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works in a building setting with children, works in outdoor weather conditions, and is subject to noises associated with both an educational environment and other settings such as the gymnasium, lunchroom, library, busses, traffic, construction sites, server rooms, and boiler rooms.

Terms of Employment

Twelve-month work year; salary, work year, and work schedule to be established by the Board of Education.
