Reports to: Director of Sport Medicine or the Sr. Director of Athletics

Summary: The Director of Sport Performance will be responsible for development and oversight of a systematic exercise prescription training program to maximize sport performance of teams and individual student-athletes for each of the 18 athletics teams at Biola.

Responsibilities:

General oversight of Biola Athletics' Sport Performance program. Oversight, design, and implementation of sport specific performance programs in collaboration with head coaches.

Recruitment and supervision of part time CSCS position (20 hrs/wk).

Supervision of any sports performance interns from the Kinesiology and Health Sciences program.

Member of the Biola Athletics Administrative Team. Participate in monthly Admin Team meetings and contribute in thoughtful ways to the administrative leadership of the department.

Participate in Athletics Week of Giving annual fundraising event. Connect with the Director of Eagles Athletic Association 1-2 times annually to plan fundraising strategies and goals.

From mid-August through mid-May, run 30 hours/week of on the floor training sessions. Under the supervision of the Director of Sports Medicine, determine how to allocate these training hours equitably among teams considering injury prevention and risk, roster size, and equitable access. Delegate teams thoughtfully and equitably to the assistant sport performance coach.

From mid-August through mid-May, utilize 10-15 hours/week for administrative duties and programming adjustments, connecting with head coaches, and attending meetings. Attend practice and competition as time allows to support students and coaches and observe training improvement needs.

Work with the Sports Medicine staff on sports performance programs that promote injury prevention within each sport. Participate in semester Sports Medicine team meetings.

Submit completed periodized programs for all 18 varsity sports by July 15th annually to the Director of Sport Medicine.

Administer summer voluntary workouts with student-athletes in the Sport Performance Center and provide home programming for students when requested by student-athletes over institutional break periods.

Complete CEU's, professional development, annual programming, and other administrative tasks to be ready for the next academic year over the summer months.

Work with the Sports Medicine staff to design and modify sport performance programs to aid in the recovery of injured student-athletes to progress safely back to practice and competition.

Oversight of safety in the Sport Performance Center including equipment sanitation, maintenance monitoring, keeping current on First Aid, CPR, and other necessary certifications.

Process requests for new equipment and equipment replacement through the associate athletic director for internal operations.

Hold sport-specific team nutrition seminars and other sport performance educational seminars as requested by head coaches and sports medicine staff during the academic year.

Participate in monthly one on one's with the Director of Sport Medicine and semester one on one's with the Sr. Director of Athletics.

Maintain compliance with all NCAA, conference, and institutional rules and regulations.

Live out a genuine Christain faith as a role model for student-athletes and have a desire to grow and engage spiritually with the Biola community.

Be a collaborative team member of the Athletics staff and the Student Development Division through meeting attendance, committee contributions, and other areas of leadership and professional development.

Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science or related field.

Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS).

Strong Christian faith with desire to positively impact student-athletes.

Preferred qualifications:

Master's degree in related field

3+ years experience training college and/or professional athletes

USA Weightlifting Certification

Certifications/training in nutrition for athletes.

Previous administrative experience.

Ability to speak to large groups.

High motivation and energy level.

Strong people and organizational skills, flexibility, and the ability to

multitask.

Must have a positive attitude, enjoy working with student-athletes, and a

passion for helping others achieve optimal performance.
