REPORTS TO: Associate Superintendent
SUPERVISES: Asst. Director, Special Education Staff
FLSA Status: Exempt
COMPENSATION: Based on Master Administrator Contract
WORK CALENDAR: 250 Days
STANDARD HOURS: 8 Hours/Day, 40 Hours/Week
CORP STATUS: Certified
PERF: CPCSC is a Non-PERF District
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Provide leadership for and direct special education services for all students
Coordinates staff assignment recommendations for the district regarding special education positions.
Direct and monitor the Individual Education Plan (IEP)
Coordinate the selection of curriculum for special education students that is aligned with the district's and state's standards in collaboration with the K-12 Curriculum Department
Coordinate and facilitate staff meetings for District special education staff
Coordinate special education services with private and other agencies
Coordinate with other Departments to implement and maintain an integrated student database
Complete all state reports in the area of special services
Oversee and monitor special education budgets
Support principals in implementing Special Education programs and services
Train newly hired special education certified and support staff
Coordinate and facilitate parent advisory groups and committees related to special needs
Assist with the design and development of the District's staff development program
Direct, implement, and coordinate Federal grants
Direct, coordinate, and facilitate the development and implementation of action plans intended to accomplish specific goals and objectives related to special education
Direct other responsibilities as assigned by the Superintendent and/or Asst. Superintendent
Develop proposals, new programs, budgets and grants for the purpose of meeting District goals.
Facilitates meetings and processes, for the purpose of implementing and maintaining Special Education programs and services of the district which achieve desired objectives
